I am a forever DM and not having much luck finding a game to play in. I got into a couple from this forum, which turned out to be...Let's say..."Unbalanced."
I have discovered that the groups I played with have totally unbalanced the game by introducing auto-loading firearms (no need to reload feats) and grenades that act like unlimited use fireballs. (often with alternative damage types like acid or radiant)
You can imagine how disappointing it is to play a caster class in these games...I get a couple of spells per rest, the multi attack fighter can lob a fireball (grenade) as her first attack, then physically attack once or twice in the same round, and defend with her 20 AC and 50 HP...
The "guns" that don't have to be reloaded are essentially eldritch blast, so its like everyone having a bonus level in Warlock, with an eldritch incantation feat on top it, which allows them to use their dex modifier to damage, except the caster classes.
Is there anyone out there that needs a player to be the party caster? Who hasn't completely broken the game with technology?
Long term high fantasy game would be great. Not willing to pay. The paid games seem to be basically the DM saying "Give me $15 a session, and I will let you break the game any way you want." Though it is usually advertised as "Homebrew is allowed with DM approval."
There must be a team based, old-school, high fantasy setting group that needs a player out there somewhere.
What days, time and time zone are you in? I have a Wednesday game that might interest you. Homebrew, no tech, combat, RP and exploration. I am DM (fairly new) and a good storyteller. Characters are currently 6th level.
