Tired of the restrictive linear builds of 5e? Wish your character could be an unholy amalgamation of disparate class features and magic items with little to no regard for balance? Read on, traveler...
Game: D&D 5e, with a big homebrew asterisk (see below).
Group type: Online via Discord and Owlbear Rodeo. You'll need a decent microphone, but you won't need a camera.
Experience: a few years / veteran - You'll need a copy of the Player's Handbook, either physical or preferably digital, and you need to be able to reference it pretty quickly. A copy of the Dungeon Master's Guide wouldn't hurt, either.
Location/Timezone: US Central (CT)
Schedule: 6-10pm Saturdays. Could be persuaded to start a bit later, but we gotta wrap up around 10.
Roles sought: 1 player. We have 3, we'd like 4.
Game style: This is an extensive hack to the progression system of 5e, intended to produce something similar to The Binding of Isaac, Rogue Legacy, or Hades -- a Rogue-lite D&D adventure, in other words. Individual character deaths don't remove you from play, but they count towards the group failing the run. Persistent upgrades exist as well as ones that reset between runs. A successful run will take you through 15 procedurally generated encounters and 3 boss fights, with a "level up" after each thing.
Our group (20s and 30s, college educated Americans, all playing 5e for about 4-5 years) likes to play combat tactically on a grid, act silly, and make me (the DM) think on my feet. Sometimes we use character voices, sometimes not.
If this madness sounds appealing to you, add me on Discord (ChoirOfFire#2422), message me on Beyond or leave a comment here so I can add you also, and we'll set up a quick interview to see if we get along and whatnot.
