Game: D&D 5e Group type: Face-to-face Experience: Off and on, an adventure here and there Location/Timezone: SE Portland, Oregon Schedule: Every other Saturday from 4-9 PM. Session 0 is on Saturday, May 28, 2022. Roles sought: Looking for 1 player (as of the last edit). I have players who are new or mostly new to D&D. Game style: More roleplay. Less hack-n-slash. I will be combining Storm King Thunder and the Tyranny of the Dragons series as a part of the campaign, which I have named it as “Dragons, Giants, Devils, and Gods: Beware!” You’re heroes. The players in the party will be closely aligned to neutral good: neutral as in being there for the other heroes in the group; good as in heroes who are fighting for their communities and have good morals and values, which is loose enough that this can work for most character types—even rogues. No PvP. It is 100% collaborative.
We are in the 20-40 year old age range. I will be hosting in my house, which has AC/heater and is large enough for us to be comfortable. I ask players to bring snacks, finger food, pizza, or something of this nature to share amongst the group.
Arrival time is between 3:45 PM to 4:15 PM with everyone at the table and the game starting at 4:30. Preferred arrival is between 3:45 PM to 4 PM. The game should end around 8:30 or so PM and the place cleaned up and the gathering done by 9 PM.
In the game, it is 1489 DR. You start in a little village with a keep southeast of Waterdeep. The village is Nightstone Village. The keep is called Nightstone Keep. We will create characters together in person at Session 0, because I work with the players in roleplaying their characters’ backgrounds—since this is heavier on the roleplaying aspect of the game.
I have some house rules, which I will present to the group at Session 0. I will share a couple of them: First, while there is currency in the world, we may have the heroes deal with wealth level and political support and patronages instead of dealing with all the coins. You need something; complete a task or go on a quest to obtain it. Need plate mail armor? You’ll need permission from the local lord or lady. To obtain an audience with the lord or lady, you will need to increase your reputation. Then you’ll need to do something that it would be worth their while to become a patronage and authorize you to obtain it and even reward you with it (pay for it) for you having completed a quest for them; maybe you secured an alliance on their behalf with two other factions, thereby increasing their power in the realm, which the quest may have additional side quests along the way.
The second house rule would be regarding magic items. Up until a couple of years ago, for the last ~150 years, there has been no magic. So, if you want a magic item, you’ll have to find recipes and find the materials to get them to craft them or have them crafted for you. It is not that they don’t exist, but they are antiques now and they don’t circulate that much anymore. It is still doable on getting them, it is a bit more difficult. As a side note, I use the crafting rules and timeframes in the book as a guideline; I adjust them according to the situation at hand.
I look forward to hearing from you. I will edit the following as changes are made to the number of players I have at any given moment: As of this last edit, I have four players, and I am looking for one more.
Hey, I’m interested in this campaign, I’m in SW Portland. You didn’t specify how you wanted us to communicate, so let me know. My discord is GreatestShowman#1495 if that’s what you prefer.
