I'm retired, so I don't have a 9-5 job. This isn't an ad for pay-to-play. If you have to pay me to run the game, you won't be able to afford me. I do have other commitments. I used to run all kinds of TTRPGs and I enjoy playing and running the games. I had the 2e stuff memorized, as well as lots of the older content. And it was easy because there were only a handful of books. 5e is over two dozen now. I haven't memorized them all ... yet. So I'm still working on becoming comfortable with the new 5e system. The group is currently about 10 months in and 7th level. Our melee DPS barb just had to drop because of work-life balance issues. It is ToTM with a Webcam feed for maps and miniatures using Discord for voice and DDB for players' rolls. I am a veteran and I fully support acceptance and personal choice. I would prefer 18+ players but might make an exception if a parent or older sibling is also playing in the group. Young, old, newish players, veterans, and in between. This is a magic heavy world.
Rules as written except for:
(1) No customized origin for racial stats. - no longer an issue with MotM releases.
(2) No content from books I don't own, or if I do own it, haven't had a chance to read yet. So no, if you buy me a copy of the book and hand it to me that doesn't mean it's suddenly legal to play. No unofficial content. There are some things that I might never get around to reading. This doesn't stop me from using mobs from books you don't own and have never read. This is the content I currently own either physically or on DDB. PHB, MM, DMG, Volos, Sword Coast, EGtW, TCoE, Essentials Kit, Starter Set, Tortles. I have the new Monsters of the Multiverse book as well. I also own the Grung on DDB, but in practice, you might find it is an unplayable race. I also have the Warforged and the other races from that Eberron book.
(3) There is what you know as a player, and what your character knows. Sometimes I don't care. Sometimes I will.
(4) Natural 20s on a roll won't allow a bard to seduce a dragon. Natural 20s work like they are written. So do Natural ones.
(5) As far as evil characters, races, or classes or subclasses. Assume every single quest or mission you get will be from someone that is Good, so they just won't hire you. The city guards and people will not trust you. You will face disadvantage(s) on almost every roll in town. It will suck for you. Since you have been warned I won't feel sorry for you. So just say not to a anything evil, or is associated with necromancy or the blacker side of magic. Fallen Assimar, Tieflings, spore druids, Way of the Long Death, assassins, phantoms, and most of the warlocks subclasses. Technically I don't disallow them. You just won't get hired. So it's really not going to be as much fun to play.
(6) Make something interesting to play. If you build a one-dimensional character. You will get bored and more importantly, I will get bored with you too. You will run into mobs that can challenge you, or attack with stuff that requires stat saves in Wis, Int, or Cha so pure damage is not going to work all the time. If you want to trash my NPCs, burn down taverns, steal from shops, you will get famous. See (5) above.
(7) Be a team player, high tide raises all boats. If you want to run a party of all damage and no support you will die. It's boring. I don't care. I don't have shops that sell a ton of healing potions. Yes, you can try and long rest a lot. Try, being the operative word there. I was often the person that also created a healer or support character in many groups I played in. (8) Please consider that this is a weekly game, and if you don't show up consistently the whole group suffers.
If you get thru all of this and are still interested then comment with just a class and race and the name of a spell that doesn't exist. I don't always answer DMs from unexpected sources.

I'm retired with no schedule limitations. I'm an experienced player, but I'm still learning 5e Looking for a group that has a healthy mix of hack and slash and Roleplaying. enough RP to make it fun and different from MMORPGs and enough hacking and slashing to so I don't feel like a bought a bunch of dice just to have them collect dust.
I have a few characters ideas that might fit in with the Bestow Hernia spell. Archfey Warlock + Lizardfolk + Pact of the Chain: Sprite Kensei Monk + Hill Dwarf Dream Druid + Tortle
I also wouldn't mind trying an assassin character in the form of a Shadow Monk. Wouldn't necessarily be evil, just following the instructions of their organization to "correct" things as necessary. Otherwise, I'm just another monk punching things :)
