Game: D&D 5e Group type: Online Experience: About 6 months Location/Timezone: ART (Argentina Time, UTC -3) Schedule: Looking at Fridays but I can do any day besides Monday and Sunday evenings Roles sought: 3-4 players Game style: 40/60 RP to Combat by virtue of the setting, though it can vary heavily based on player decisions
Greetings, I'm a semi-experienced DM with less than a year of hosting games, I've been wanting to run this homebrewed setting I've been working on for almost a year now so I decided to try my luck here. Here's the basic premise of the game:
Planet Avalice was once a beautiful and prosperous world with a rich history and a great legacy. The avalicians built their kingdoms on the remnants of two ancient races that once warred against one another and brought themselves to near extintion: The earth and water dragons. Millenia has passed since their confrontation, but the natives managed to thrive through the hardship of a devastated world, soon enough kingdoms rose and civilization was established, and while crime and inner conflict are constants even today, it's nowhere near a problem as many would like to believe. Soon, their real problems would arrive.
A warlord from outer space cast a shadow over the lands, as his gartantuan starship descended into orbit and rained fire upon the people and their homes, the lands burned and their towers crumbled, lives were lost, many on the frontlines to the weapons of mass destruction, many defenseless innocents that didn't stand a chance against the relentless constructs that sieged the world.
Months have passed since the tragedy, Avalice is now naught but a husk of her former self, withering and shriveling under a perpetual night, a constant drizzle and the roaming robots of the battalion that brought the kingdoms to ruin.
Yet, far on the horizon, a streak of light breaks through the clouds that separate the skies from the land, a beacon of hope? Salvation? Perhaps, but whoever they are, they must first survive the landing...
For the balance of the game it'll be more combat than RP with touches of survival, again due to how the setting itself is, you and your party will be pushing back against the forces of this warlord on these unfamiliar lands, the campaign will feature a lot of combat against robots of all kinds, a couple of biomes to traverse including the ruined cities of the kingdoms and other withered natural landscapes, dungeons here and there with pretty sweet rewards, bossfights and raids, and in case you're worried about the RP side of things there will be a bunch of interesting NPCs to interact with, survivors of the apocalypse, important figures of the past, tons of lore and information to learn and discover, an unraveling plot that will depend on your actions and failings, and your own character's backstory intertwined with the plot if you so desire of course.
This is a passion project of mine that I wish to share only with dedicated players who can commit to a long term game and wish to experience a survival adventure set in a post-apocalyptic fantasy/sci-fi world heavily inspired in east-asian culture as you push back the darkness and become the new heroes of Avalice.
Now for some other information regarding the game itself: -Table size will be of 4 players, with me as the DM. -Campaign will go from levels 2-12 based on milestone, with a prologue where your characters will be given leeway if they die. -Campaign will be of a serious tone and contain dark themes from time to time, with a few +18 moments (horror/gore, not lewd or sexual). -I have a bunch of house rules in place to spice up the game, outside of that it's a regular homebrew 5e experience. -I'm strict with rules at the table, so if you're looking for trouble then consider not applying here. -Players of any experience levels are welcome, if you're brand new I don't have a problem teaching you the ropes. -I'd prefer players that are 18+, but you're welcome if you're not as long as you understand what you're signing up for. -While the game will be serious in tone with a clear goal, that doesn't mean it's gonna be a railroaded game or that there won't be time for lighthearted moments and tomfoolery.
If you're interested then please fill out this form to apply, I will be contacting the chosen players in early January 2024 to get everything started:
