Have you ever wanted to be part of a mythological adventure? Slaying monsters, commanding armies against impossible odds, destroying cults, learning magic, being a champion of a god - or refusing to bow down to the fickle whims of a pantheon and rebelling against your destiny, battling demigods, fellow champions and being a legend? Then this game is for you. Thrilias: A Mythic Odyssey takes place in the D&D 5E setting "Mythic Odysseys of Theros". Thrilias draws heavily from the epic mythological tales, Greek Mythology in particular, set in the world of Theros. I place the focus of the game on the narrative while allowing your choices to shape the story, making the world reactive to you. We have it all: Tales of tragedy, love, friendship and age old grudges for you to discover and forge as you interact with one another, as well as the rest of the world and write your own odyssey. We are currently in the city of Meletis, untangling a dangerous plot woven by a group of cultists while the gods manipulate the course of events behind the scenes. It is a roleplay / story heavy game with a lot of fun elements of combat, and a decent chunk of exploration on the horizon; allowing you to go on nautical adventures like Odysseus, defy the Fates and follow your own heroic destiny - whatever it may be. It is the sandboxy story telling experience that you have been looking for this whole time. Thrilias is packed with wonders, treasures, and monsters that will help you scratch that mythological tale itch you have always wanted to tell with your character.
ABOUT ME:
Hello everyone! Nice meeting you! My name's Onur. I am a professional game master and story teller. I have been into tabletop games for about three years and have been running games professionally for almost the same time. I've been playing and running D&D mainly in the form of one-shots and short campaigns during this time both with friends and profesionally. Telling stories have been a huge passion of mine for as long as I could remember, and thanks to the magic of the internet, I get to do that with bunch of amazing other people from all over the world! I've also been interested in TTRPGs and mythology for as long as I can remember, and finding a blend of them in this setting definitely left me inspired to tell a good mythological story!
My GMing Style:
As a GM, I enjoy games that lean more into a linear style of story telling; with one thing leading to another. As mentioned above: the lands of Theros are yours to explore in a sandbox-like experience, and I'm always willing to stretch and bend my story so you can fully enjoy what the world has to offer for you; but it is important to remember that your actions will be remembered and have results, and the story will eventually catch up with you in the ways and forms that you have shaped it into.
I put more emphasis in character growth, stories and development rather than dice rolling; this campaign will be %60 roleplay, %40 combat. As mentioned above, travelling to the other cities and poleis, traversing the treacherous seas and dangerous forests are all planned for the future. In terms of combat frequency; I understand the magic math rocks are very pretty and we all love to roll them, but I always prioritize the narrative, and I am definitely a rule of cool guy - so if you are expecting a game of only dice rolling, combat heavy and minimum roleplay - I respect your choice, but I'm probably not the right DM for you. On the other hand, if you enjoy creating a collaborative story at the table and like to see your characters grow and change over time and roleplay with myself as well as your fellow players while still getting to do cool shit in and out of combat, then look no further!
I enjoy games where we come together to create a collaborative experience with the people at my table, creating a safe and friendly environment where we can all have a good time together. I incorporate backstories and plot hooks in and do my best to craft a story that will have individual reasons to draw your characters in rather than you feeling like you are being dragged along for an adventure your character didn't sign up for. I tailor the experience to compliment each and every one of your characters and their stories; where we make the player characters go through development - for better or for worse, that's up to you - as we follow their journey.
Scheduling:
We play on Saturday 6 PM GMT - 11 PM GMT / 1 PM EST - 6 PM EST (4 seats taken; 1 seat remaining).
Since our group has been solidified, the times won't be moving our day and time - we can accommodate if you are interested but we can't do any big changes. Please feel free to reach out if you'd like to ask more about scheduling!
What To Expect:
Payment:
Payment will be issued via StartPlaying, for 30$ per player, per session. We will be playing weekly.
Game:
As mentioned above, you can expect an open-world with a narrative-heavy focus game. We'll be mainly sticking with officially published material, but I can be persuaded for some Homebrew as long as it has been submitted and approved by me before the sessions. We will be using Roll20 for maps, illustrations, character sheets and combats, and Discord for calls. A good mic is very important, and while camera is not mandatory, it's highly encouraged.
If you decide to apply to this game, I will also be interviewing you to chat personally, see how we click outside of the game, to just have a conversation and learn more about your experiences with D&D and TTRPGs in general. After that, we will hold a Session 0 where I will share a consent form; we'll talk about considerate play, make sure we all know one another's lines and veils, and we'll work together to build your characters; their concepts, backstories, how your character could fit with the group, how they could come into this story and after all of that, we will jump right in!
Parting Words:
Being 18+ and queer friendly is a must. All experience levels are welcome; I can work with anyone who has only heard about D&D in passing to experienced, veteran players; so long as all of us are open to constructive criticism, to work together and are respectful towards each other, everyone is welcome at my table.
Here's my StartPlaying link if you wish to directly check out the Adventure Page, as well as my profile:
If you have made it this far, once again, thank you for taking the time! I hope to see you at the table for an epic adventure we will all be going on together!
