Game: GURPS [Generic Universal Roleplaying System] Group type: Online Experience: Any Location/Timezone: Pacific Standard Time Schedule: Tuesdays @ 3:00p [6:00p EST] Roles sought: Players, need 1-2 Game style: Roleplay, Survival, Warfare, Intrigue
As the Carolingian dynasty continues to recover from civil war, a village near Reims becomes the center of a new conflict. Whether a longtime local or a far traveler, the denizens will have to unite against an unexpected enemy. This game seeks to satisfy the question of how far the commoner can rise in status, and how far the noble is willing to go for survival.
[EDIT: The use of an app is required for generating character sheets, and is only available for Windows, Mac, and Linux]
This takes place two years after the rebellion of the emperor's sons. It started because the emperor gave a portion of Alemannia to his youngest son, Charles, an inheritance that was already meant for the eldest son Lothair. This sparked a civil war that involved the other sons, Louis the German and Pepin of Aquitaine, which ended with the same person who started it, with the emperor promising Lothair a greater share of the inheritance. It is generally assumed that this was a scheme of nobles trying to depose the emperor rather than the wholehearted will of his sons.
Furthermore, I have decided that there WILL be some type of skill improvement during the first session to emphasize the development of characters through gameplay. It should be noted that GURPS is distinct from D&D in that any character could potentially have any combination of skills, advantages, and other traits because of the focus on buying improvements with points, meaning that where you would typically earn XP in D&D you instead gain points to spend on your character as you see fit.
