Game: D&D 5e Group type: Online Experience: 8 years Location/Timezone: Eastern Standard Time Schedule: Probably Friday Evenings, but I can be flexible Roles sought: 3-6 Players Game style: Roleplay valued, long term campaign with challenging fights in a homebrewed world
In the dead of the night, deep in the massive perfect hole in the center of The Wastes, a long, low, inhuman sound calls out. Few hear it, but those that do immediately know that something is waiting far below, where light never reaches. What you will find at the bottom of the pit, impossibly far below the surface, is an ancient item attached to a figure so important that his name no longer exists.
Embark on a journey that will take you to the highest highs and the lowest lows. Make deals with devils, fight the angels, and try to figure out who the artifact belonged to, and why no one, even Asmodeus, will give you a straight answer. The heavens and the hells are both haunted by their pasts. Are you prepared to solve problems of mythical proportions?
My plan for you is to have you start at level 3, and get the opportunity to "stretch your legs" for a bit before actually jumping into the major plot of the campaign. Think of this as a couple of sessions long "mini-campaign" designed to help you figure out your character and get used to my style before jumping in headfirst. As far as races and classes go, just check with me first and I'll give you the information you need, in addition to a couple of races I've homebrewed myself. If you have any questions whatsoever, send me a message through Discord (theugliestegirl) and I'll try to get things sorted out as quickly as possible.
No matter your level of experience, please feel free to reach out! My past couple of campaigns have had fully new players and they've quickly become mainstays of my home table. The game is online and tentatively at 6:30 on Friday evenings (although that could shift quite a bit). I plan to run using Discord and Owlbear Rodeo for the voicecall and virtual table top respectively. I'll disperse the link to the tabletop as needed before combats.
I'd say I run games that are about 75% roleplay, 25% combat. I have been running campaigns in a homebrewed world since my first session, and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. As such, I have no problem with homebrewed classes, races, feats or anything else as long as you run it by me first.
My mentality as a DM and about DnD in general is that it's a storytelling game. I want to work with players to make the most enjoyable story possible. If that story includes player death or bad events, so be it. People die in real life, and bad things happen to them. I'm not going to actively try to kill your character, but I won't really pull punches either. I like to have players be on the powerful side, for my enjoyment and theirs. I would rather have strong character concepts that you comfortable roleplaying to some extent than an unhinged killing machine or a perfectly optimal combat build. I can balance combats appropriately, I can't run your character for you.
I'm relatively willing to stretch rules for the benefit of the narrative or fun. That being said, I'm not going to pretend that I'm a perfect rule arbiter. If you think I've done something wrong, say so. I'll either take the opportunity to explain a house rule, or check what the correct way to run something is. Let's work together to play the best DnD possible.
I'm currently looking for at least 3 players and up to 6. I plan to charge 15 dollars a session, but session 0 will be free. Reach out if you are interested as a group or a solo player via my discord or messages on here. My current home table has been cobbled together over the years, and we consistently have a good time playing together, so I look forward to finding more players to storycraft with. See you there!
