After the war, the Empire of Wenia was reshaped by the victors, the Kingdom of Ander. The once-mighty empire was reduced to a regency. Ander played only a brief role in the reforms before turning back to their own affairs. Now, Regent Darlow struggles to maintain control over the dark and lawless land Wenia has become thanks to the war. Monsters roam freely, and where there is darkness, evil follows. Supernatural threats continue to grow, especially in the Westlands, where the wilderness and roads are perilous beyond the safety of towns.
Over the past 7 years, various monster hunting guilds have emerged across the region. You belong to one of them, a struggling guild barely staying afloat. Unless your group can earn 1,000 gold by the end of the week, you will lose your headquarters, Westlake Manor, owned by Markolf Hall. There are seven days left to pay him, or the guild will be finished.
Welcome to Monsters of the Westlands, a dark and gritty homebrew campaign! I have been DMing homebrew material for nearly 6 years now on 5e and have always wanted to run a deadly, hardcore game.
That means...
- Deadly combat encounters, higher/more realistic skill DCs, reasonable encumbrance, keeping track of food/rations per day and exhaustion. RP and adventure tends to be 60-75% of gameplay, but I could imagine the combat in this campaign being extended to maybe 50-50.
- Character creation must be from the DND 5E PLAYER'S HANDBOOK. Feel free to take liberties with their lore and I am definitively willing to bend some rules for flavor. Character creation will be session 0
All that being said, a hardcore game is NOT FOR EVERYONE. You may die! In fact, there is a high probability of death if you don't play smart. You must be okay with your PCs death.
The most hardcore aspect: if your player dies, that will be your last session with us. A new player will be added the following week. You are welcome to return to chat and listen to any following sessions.
When: Mondays 8pm-12am EST! Starting session 0 on Monday, July 6th.
