Hello! I'm Star/Starcattz, and I'm looking for a couple people to join an original long-term D&D campaign that I'm creating (The Grim)! Please be warned; this will be my first time DMing a campaign, and alongside the other members, we may be a bit inexperienced. Knowledge of D&D is not necessary; we will all work together! I have two other players right now. We are all 20 yrs old, English speakers and artists. Please do not show interest in this post if you are 26 or older.
When contacting me, please send a private message if your interested (do not leave comments)! Feel free to add anything you want, including questions! However, I'm especially looking for details about the players (you!), which includes your preferred name, pronouns, age range (must be 18+), your timezone, your experience with D&D, as well as what D&D class you'd like to use and what D&D race you'd like to play! We're particularly interested in anyone who isn't looking to use a Warlock, Wizard, Sorcerer or Cleric. Any other class is open!
And,
please be patient with replies; we won't be accepting anyone until the end of October to ensure we're able to create a group that we'll all be comfortable with - if you have a 'ride or die' friend/partner/etc that you'd like to join alongside, please let us know! The campaign isn't set to start until the end of November or beginning of December, so we can ensure that everyone is a right fit, give time so everyone can adjust and become friends, and is able to create and connect with a character idea for the story.
Before contacting me, please look through our guidelines, which will include more specifics about how the campaign will be run and what will be included:
CampaignGuidelines:
- The Grim is a Medieval Dark Fantasy story with strong Adult Themes, Horror, Gore and (fantasy) Religion. Everyone, alongside their characters, must be 18+ to participate and, for future reference, I strongly advise against publicly posting this story without proper warning tags.
✧ Other themes may include; (fade to black) intimate moments, death, war, (fantasy) racism, sexism, and child endangerment/death. Homophobia, Transphobia, and Drug use (excluding smoking and alcohol) will not be included unless via backstory. Animal abuse (excluding Animal death/gore) will not be mentioned.
✧ The Grim is a homebrew story that may be very flexible on the normal rules of d&d; we reference and incorporate elements from the 5e addition, though. This story may look more like a ttrpg w/ dice rolls and character sheets! We will be focused online, through Discord.
- Regardless of the themes found within the Campaign, players and player characters cannot and will not have bigoted views⋆ and they will not be tolerated outside of the story. Outside of the story, this place is an LGBTQ+ friendly space that accepts anyone no matter their gender, sex, sexual orientation, identity, disabilities, race, color of skin, etc (but please use common sense; we don't interact w/ M@Ps, Leftists, Z00s, Ableists, etc). Everyone in this small group is Neurodivergent and LGBTQ+.
✧ Everyone within the group are also artists. It is strongly preferred that anyone whom takes interest can draw, too, but it's not a requirement. We do not allow use of AI. One, or all of us, will be glad to draw the characters within the campaign; and more than likely will be a promise regardless.
✧ ⋆Not including fantasy racism. Characters grown and raised within certain regions of the world may need to grow and change their perspective. This will be for character and story development only!
- Roleplay needs to be mature and thought out. Characters and their development, alongside building the story as a whole, will require a lot of time and effort. This is a long term campaign that may last near a year, more or less. If you are not willing and able to be active, participate, and devoted, then this place will not be for you. Obviously, though, we understand that life happens; please communicate with everyone! This will be very important!
✧ Sessions will be once every week, possibly bi-weekly if I or anyone needs a break, is busy, is sick, etc. We should all try our best to be flexible, though, and be willing to discuss rescheduling if its on the table! We are only looking for other members that are at most 3 hrs away from the EST timezone, but the closer, the better! Session dates (aka the exact hour to start and day of the week) are not yet in order and will need to be discussed with everyone involved. However, please be prepared and willing to participate in the evenings, possibly on a weekday! We will not be doing mornings.
✧ This campaign will require players to join Voice Chat in order to partake in sessions. However, needing to unmute and talk is not required! In this server we have it set up so responses are written in a specific channel with 2-3 sentence replies, so being able to do written roleplay is a must! We would adore to become friends outside of the story, too, so having time to play games, watching art streams, etc, would be super nice :D (but absolutely not required!)
- Thank you for reading and please feel free to ask any and all questions :]
Although not necessary, I would also highly recommend reading the base plot found below. Completely understandable if you would prefer to wait until if/when being accepted into the group!

Over two-hundred years ago, this expanse of land, Avirife (A - Ver - Ife) was a beautiful, colorful place. Flowers bloomed in every season, butterflies and bugs pollinated and buzzed, welcoming moments of peace and tranquility. The birds sung lovely tunes every morning the sun had risen, waking many in a fashion they'd grown used too.
But then calamity struck.
The people began to grow quickly sick, a surprise that sprung on each common person like an attack from behind. No one knew where it came from; The Plague was a treacherous thing that took many lives before any healer - no matter how skilled or unprepared - could figure out how to handle it.
They turned to The Gods, these people. They were freighted of the unknown, but giving offerings and prayer soothed many of their souls. When The Plague first hit, The Gods answered. They gave their gifts, their blessings. For what it was worth, many attempted to still live with a blind eye, turning their cheeks to the device that'd reach them soon enough.
Their negligence caught up though when within fifty years of The Plague, The Gods began to grow silent. Like The Plague, their silence had grown quickly, just within one year. The royal family too seems to leave without a trace.
No longer did the people wake besides the sun glimmering through their windows. They rise to coughing on the streets; lifeless bodies within the alleyways. The land were withering away, for The Goddess of Elements no longer responded at all. A deep fog from the seas began to take its course, washing away the light, not just from above, but from the lands evergreens, from the grasses that once rolled within the wind.
The God of Light and Dreams gifts his last spell of power to Starwood and not his kingdom, Starrun; those that lived within the kingdom saw it as a betrayal, for they were not gifted with his protection. The people begin to loose their faith, ashamed that The Gods they worshipped and praised for centuries have suddenly disappeared without a warning, without a message. That they must've turned their back to the people in need.
Another fifty years pass. Havoc begins to reign during this time, when creatures, beasts, demons of the unforsaken and unknown begin to make their appearances. The people mourn the loss of their deities, growing bitter and jealous. When mark of The God of Glory and Courage - The King of Dragons - finally begins, many believers, alongside the last of The Gods heavenly children and angels soon succumb to the rage of battles. Those that had faith grow thinner. War and despair strike Avirife for another fifty years before, finally, The Plague's signs began to disappear.
By now, no one wishes to speak of The Gods that turned their backs on their people, whom adored them with their lives. There is one that still exists, but her kingdom is closed and locked away. Still, the word on all of them becomes hushed; besides for small groups of strangers who begin to claim they will return, who claim they have returned. But the Cults never last long. Too many are driven by false hope, promises of blessings and safety from the beings that lurk around every corner. Many of them give prayer to those exact beings, the beasts like demons and false angels, without knowing the truth before its too late.
Now, after two-hundred years since The Plague, the people continue to struggle to survive. It's difficult to find others to trust, to find work and a stable place that will keep them going.
