Hello! I’m Jay (they/them) a semi-experienced DM looking for 1-2 more players. (Running 2012 5e.) The campaign takes place most Mondays (I have work every third, sadly) at 7:00 PM CST and goes for about 3 hours. The campaign is meant to be levels 1-20, though we’re currently at 3. The current group consists of a wild magic sorcerer, a wildfire druid, and a beast barbarian.
Now! The campaign itself is mostly open-world, with the main plot being focused on uncovering/eliminating an occupying force commissioned by a hostile foreign government. Magic is strictly governed in most countries, after all. Almost outlawed in some, save for those few individuals who prove themselves useful to the powers at be. It takes a lot of effort to police that many people. And for those that step out of line? Well. No reason to waste a good mage. Not when there’s a war on.
Before you joined, the party fled from a town carrying evidence that this force had broken the law. Now, some weeks later, they’ve just killed their way out of a necromancy-based debtor’s prison. Having rescued a (slightly undead) paladin as a favor for the Changeling resistance, the party finds themselves in need of a note of legitimacy. Sadly, there are few other ways for a pack of nobodies to get in to see the Emperor.
Despite the description we tend to keep things light, with the campaign usually being more comedic than serious. But an amount of respect/care is still required. We’re trying to make the world feel alive, and that’s hard when there’s interruptions and characters who don’t care about consequences. About 40/60 combat/RP, I’m looking for players who want to create characters to enhance the world, not just mock or break it. If a character could be summarized as being a gremlin with little to no other details/motivation, then they would not be a good fit.
In terms of technical details, we use DnD beyond for character sheets, Owlbear for visualizing/combat, and Discord for VC. I’ve got a big long doc of context but if you’re not up for reading I can summarize it in a session zero, provided I know what race/class you’re interested in. I have a limited number of races/classes, all mentioned in the doc, so that everything gets its own flavor/place in the world. These are non-negotiable. Otherwise, feel free to message me in DMs if you’re interested, or comment below here. I’d love to know your age/preferred name/what sort of character you like playing.
I’m so sorry for the delay. I’m very interested in the campaign and would love to join. The character I’d like to play is a Gnarlborn, Druid. Oh and my discord is gildarts1316

Greetings. before I request to join, could you inform me as to weather we are using the 2024 or 2014 rules?

That is an important detail isn’t it? 💀 2014 rules, since I have most of those memorized

Fellow DM/GM here with 13 years experience.
I do love settings where the players help build the world.
I do tend to play rather unconventional characters that are believable.
Orc Wizard, Gnoll Paladin, Human Bloodhunter, Warforged Druid, Dhamphir Cleric, just to name a few.
I'm thinking maybe exploring a bit with either paladin, cleric, bard, or perhaps an artificer.
Something that brings utility and support to the table and offers a lot of RP potential.
