I've been playing TTRPGs for the last 25+ years, I'm looking to learn 5E and would like to learn it the way I learned 3rd ed and 3.5, by learning as I go and creating a story for a character as I go.
I have discord and normally use Roll20, but I don't mind other online platforms. I did look into Astral Tabletop as well, though I'm nowhere near as familiar with it as I am Roll20. I can play any day of the week for the time being, pretty much any time as well, though mid-late afternoon to late night central time would be the best. Nowadays its all how powerful you can make your characters, min-maxing, how you can bend the rules to make sure your character could single-handedly take down a terrasque and walk away unscathed. People are missing the whole point of roleplaying..... The journey of your character from beginning to end and creating an interesting story that draws you in.
I prefer Homebrew world's as Adventure Paths and Modules ddon' really allow for creative freedom. "Make a character that doesn't really have a pertinent backstory and go on this railroad trip and do only what the AP says" doesn't really appeal to me
