Adventurers Needed! (D&D5e) ...Do you have the adventurer spirit? ...Do you ever hope to see something magical over the next hilltop? ...Are you inspired by the possibility of other worlds, fraught with mystery?
Come, inquire within, and see what awaits you...
What
We're beginning a full-fledged tabletop campaign on the continent of Faerûn!
Tales of deceit and hidden wealth slip from the ale-loosed lips of tavern ne'er-do-wells, whispers of cults seeking to bring forth cataclysmic terror upon the realm, and rumors of disappearing caravans are the talk of the town. Whether as heroes, healers, sellswords, investigators, or instigators - adventurers hear the call in their bones. This game will use the Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition rules. Our emphasis is on world and story immersion.
Roleplay is the focus, and metagaming is discouraged. Gameplay exists to engage the players, and invite creative thinking. Rules are there to facilitate play, but will be bent in the name of fun for all of us playing.
Who
Players (Maybe you!)
This campaign will star 4-5 players as the illustrious adventurers. Players of all roleplaying and tabletop experience levels are welcome! The game deals with political intrigue, mortal risk, and underhanded subterfuge: players should be able to deal with mature themes and embrace a world where they are as real as their own arms and legs.
Players should be willing to commit to 3-4 hours of play each session, with a regular session every other week. Players who cannot attend regularly may be asked to step down in favor of regular players, but I will do my best to accommodate everyone's schedules reasonably. We'll have 1-2 breaks each session for your biological needs, and several players will have sufficient experience to help mentor those who might want occasional help with the D&D system.
If you're not sure if this type of game is for you, please feel free to reach out to the Dungeon Master all the same! I'm happy to have you at the table as a guest, guest player, or even to host a personal session at MeltingTop before engaging to talk over how the game works, and what you can expect to be doing.
Be prepared to bring along ... well, whatever you have! If you've got nothing more than your imagination, then bring it. If you've got your own D&D books, dice, and the like, then bring those too. For those of you who haven't got your own, I'm happy to share (though there's certainly more than a little bit of superstition about using a Dungeon Master's dice. Some say they're cursed.) There are plenty of supplies to be found at MeltingTop, too!
Characters
Characters of all types are needed for this campaign. In general, characters should be Good or Neutral, and willing to contribute to the cause (though their reasons for doing so may be different from everyone else's.) Occasional inter-party conflicts are inevitable, but be cautioned that characters who become constant sources of strife for the others may find themselves severely disadvantaged.
Characters will most likely come from the races and classes available from the D&D5e core Rulebooks, but please chat me up if you want to discuss alternatives.
How are stats determined? Standard Stat Buy is the default, but this is up for discussion. Every character should have a couple strengths and a couple weak points.
Can my character die? Certainly. Character death is a constant risk. This said, death is not always the outcome of combat loss, and the Dungeon Master encourages curious results.
Dungeon Master
Hi! I'm Jordan. I'm a life-long story teller, geek, and gamer - and I adore nothing in this world more than a night with friends, creating something unique together. My guiding principles are Respect, Fun First, and Life Happens. As your Dungeon Master, my goal is to create an environment where all players feel free to engage their minds in another world, while sharing the company of others who seek to do the same.
I've been make-believing since forever, involved in Tabletop games since I was in Junior High, and leading games for over 10 years. I've played in several systems, but I find that no matter what system I use, I will gladly forgo rules if it means that it makes for a better experience for everyone involved.
Guests
Table space will be limited, but guests are welcome when space is available. The expectation is that non-players may watch, but are asked to keep distraction from the game to a minimum during the session. Potential guest players are invited to bring their characters to me, and I can see how we can weave them in if circumstances allow.
When
Sunday, November 18th from 12pm to 4pm "Session 0" (where we get together, build characters, help bring new players into familiarity with the system, and set the tone) will be on November 18th.Once the group is gathered, we'll set a regular schedule (adjusting around the holidays as needed), every other week. We'll keep going until we've found victory - and who knows, maybe we'll even spin off into new campaigns or new games. Only fortune knows!
I look forward to hearing from you. If you are even just on the fence about Tabletop gaming, Roleplaying, Dungeons & Dragons, or where to start... please feel welcome to contact me. Just send along an email at your convenience, and we can chat.
Hi Jordan, Did you get all the players you needed? The party I was playing with has recently disbanded. Looking to get into a regularly playing group. Let me know if you could use another player in the group.
Thanks, Randy
