Hello, I'm Stranger, and I'm looking to recruit 2-3 playersfor a long-term homebrew campaign that is slated to begin sometime in August, or September at the latest (exact date undecided as yet due to the fact that it will not begin until my current campaign ends).
What I'm looking for. I'm looking for serious and committed players that can reliably make sessions on-time. I'm looking for people who are interested in heavy RP, who really get into their characters and delight in making interesting backstories for them; who work with their DMs to interweave their characters cleanly into the setting and narrative. I'm looking for people who like to delve into the story, immerse themselves in the setting, and who aren't afraid of making choices and actions that could potentially change the world the game is set in.
"What if I'm not sure that I can commit to a 1-2 year game?" As long as you can commit for at least a few months, please feel free to apply, though do make a note of it in your application. Obviously, real life comes up occasionally, and missing a session on rare occasion is acceptable. That said, if there is any chance that your schedule may change within the immediate future (as is the case for many people due to current world events), please do not apply. Sorry, but I've already dealt with having to change things up heavily due to cast changes in the early days of my last game, and I'm not looking to do that again if I can help it.
A tiny bit about the setting and story. Our story takes place on a world called Theosia, in the Prime Meridian plane - a twin plane of the Prime Material. Specifically, we begin in the Queendom of Ghija, a large and prosperous country made up of 5 separate city-states that mostly get along well. It is the newly-born 24th Age, the Age of Waking Gods, as it has begun to be known. Our tale begins with a group of explorers headed on an Expedition to a newly-found ruin near the city of Baressa.
To Apply, please fill out the following and paste it here or in DMs. For character concepts, please include information beyond mechanical details (though I need those as well). Let me know a bit about them, tell me who they are and what they're about, why they're on this expedition.

I love engaging with the party and learning about those that I will be traveling with. I love finding side quests, meeting interesting NPCs. I love crying and laughing with the party. I love the hard moments and the victories thereafter, or the moments where the party sits in silence, stewing in anger until the plan boils down to 'kick the door down with anyone in our way'. The story that we, everyone, will create is one I want written down in the books of heroes.

What sorts of activities do you most enjoy getting up to in a TTRPG game?: All kinds of things honestly. Part of the fun is going completely off the rails because of a failed dice roll, or just doing something epic because of a nat 20. The roll of the dice is the funnest part for me, and the sheer absurdity of ideas that people come up with under pressure. What sorts of activities bore you the most in a TTRPG game?: Too much combat honestly. While combat can be fun and engaging, especially during a key story moment, too much of it can be boring. I don't want to play a hack-n-slash.
Between Roleplay/Exploration/Combat, which is your favorite pillar?: A mix of roleplay and exploration with puzzles, though roleplay does pull further ahead by a small hair. What are your expectations of your fellow players?: To engage in the background stories and plots of other characters. To actively create and shape the world with the DM, and not just be a bystander. To bring a level of maturity and friendliness. Adults will play out as they do, and I expect that if another player is uncomfortable and requests the advances to stop that the offending player stops.
What are your expectations of your DM?: To work in each player's backstory so they can feel invested and solve their problems as well as the world's issues. You are the world, and the world isn't kind. While I don't want a player killer, I do expect some level of difficulty. I don't want to turn my brain off and play. I want to think, and to come up with unique ways to get past some challenges we might not be fully ready for.
Since I don't have much of the world, character specifics in background will be left for a more detailed conversation if my application is selected.
Character Concept 1: Protector Aasimar Paladin. Plan to multiclass to warlock at level 3. Main background is that he was the single child of a noble family. Grows up thinking he's human since aasimar are rare. Angelic guide starts to give him visions of what his family is doing with their wealth. They are part of a conspiracy to make more money and advance their greed. Involving themselves in assassinations, politics, and whatnot. He vows he will stop them, escaping with what armor and weapons he could. I do have why he turns to warlock after a few levels in paladin planned out as well as some potential homebrew flavoring added. As I said, this will require some level of detailed discussion. As for why he's on the expedition, simple as money. Can't fight nobles without money and weight to throw around.
Character Concept 2: Variant Human Fighter. Grew up in a poor farming village with little to no money. One day the army comes and recruits a number of the children, he was one of them. He was naturally good at fighting and commanding, eventually earning his way up to Captain. He was given a simple mission: clear out a town full of insurgents. It wasn't until he actually joined the battle that he realized what happened. The town he was sent to clear out was his own, his family dying in the process. He ordered his men to stop but they wouldn't listen. They were full of blood lust. To get them to stop, he turned on them. Slaughtering his own men and in the process securing his title as a traitor to the country. He has a personal vendetta against the nobles that betrayed him and caused the death of his family. I would like to homebrew a glaive into a scythe because scythes are cool and I'm edgy.
What sorts of activities do you most enjoy getting up to in a TTRPG game?: a bit of everything. I like to create characters that lives and can interact with the world and then RP with that background. I also really enjoy RP-ing in combat where my neutral/good tank character will charge in and create space for my group. Or if I was a neutral/evil rouge I would stay behind, still helping the group, but not directly put myself in danger. What sorts of activities bore you the most in a TTRPG game?: nothing i can think of. the worst case i've been in was when a DM gives false choices, so whatever I did will just give the same outcomes. Felt like I wasn't even there
Between Roleplay/Exploration/Combat, which is your favorite pillar?: From best to worse, I would rate RP > Combat > Exploration
What are your expectations of your fellow players?: friendly, has similar interest (mostly RP), be focused on sessions, do things for the benefit of the group(like no lone-wolfing or steal party's items). Have fun without ruining others' fun.
What are your expectations of your DM?: not too strict with rules, allowing room for creativity, explain things to new players when needed.
Character Concept 1: A gnome rouge who survived by stealing and looting. One night she got into an orc camp, her partner betrayed her and she was caught. Instead of being executed, she tricked the orc leader or bit off her pinkie finger instead. After she escape, she was traumatized and retire the thieve's jobs. She set up a fence shop in town instead. Her business was not doing good and some adventurers (the party) asked her to join them so she begrudgingly packed up and go on an adventure with them.
Character Concept 2: A tiefling Paladin who was adopted by a human. The tiefling's father was a very beloved noble. One day, his father was was kidnapped and the tiefling was blamed for doing it. Fortunately, without any evidence, the town government had to let the tiefling go. He made and oath to never return home until he find his father. He left his hometown for the mission, not knowing when or if he will ever return.
Experience: I am normally the dm but I just recently left a campaign where I was a player for almost 3 years.
Playstyle: I like to interact with the world and learn more about the places I am exploring, I also enjoy playing my character more than taking the meta-game route in some scenarios.
Discord: Kenderrick_Valentine#5242
What sorts of activities do you most enjoy getting up to in a TTRPG game? I enjoy interacting with the world around my character and having my character be creative in ways that affect the world whether a small or large impact.
Whatsorts of activities bore you the most in a TTRPG game? Having to explain every action that you want to perform to a DM or player that the DM has agreed to allow other people and yourself to do before without a major explanation. So to simplify what I am saying is that when everything you want to attempt is blocked by you having to perfectly explain it to people.
Between Roleplay/Exploration/Combat, which is your favorite pillar? I love the exploration and roleplay pillars of the game, yet feel like many DMs just take the exploration pillar and turn it into a few dice rolls to see if you have a combat encounter.
What are your expectations of your fellow players? I am hoping that my fellow players will be friendly and kind, and also understanding if something unique to a particular person's character is to come up.
What are your expectations of your DM? My expectations of the DM are very similar to that of the player with the addition of them having the ability to keep the table organized and communicating.
Character Concept 1: Mirror, the changeling warlock who is currently going through an identity crisis and has decided to become an adventurer in hopes to become their own unique person instead of multiple different people.
Character Concept 2: Amelia, A kalashtar barbarian who says bears raised but no one knows if that is the truth or not but, often you will see her acting more akin to a beast than a person.

Name/Pseudonym: Brenden Age: 18 Pronouns: he/him Experience: Im fairly new, having only played in a few one-offs and short campaigns Playstyle: I love roleplaying and getting into the character I'm playing, including during combat and exploration. Exploration and combat are equally fun for me. Discord: itsaegis#8541 What sorts of activities do you most enjoy getting up to in a TTRPG game?: Intercharacter chats and development moments, challenging fights, and dice rolls What sorts of activities bore you the most in a TTRPG game?: Shopping :((( Between Roleplay/Exploration/Combat, which is your favorite pillar?: I enjoy them all fairly the same, but I do find roleplay a bit more interesting. What are your expectations of your fellow players?: I expect my fellow players to be respectful to the DM and their world and to the other players and their decisions. I also expect them to engage and try to fun with the game and be willing to be themselves and play comfortably. What are your expectations of your DM?: I expect the DM to build the world the world they want to build and guide their players through it. A little bit of difficulty should be present in play in my opinion, but not too much. I also expect them to hold players accountable for their actions and to willingly work with a character's backstory during the game. Character Concept 1: A human sorcerer with hopes to multiclass into bard at some point. An eccentric with a knack for obscure poetry and fanciful language, he fancies himself a wordsmith and heroic soul. Put down early in his life by the other kids in the small village he was born in for being strange, weird, and too different, he developed a bit of an inferiority complex, but one day, when a group of kobolds attacked, he was the one who bravely stepped up and unleashed the latent power hidden within himself. Having defeated the kobolds and saved the village from destruction, he found new, although a strange form, of confidence. From there, he left the village when he was of age and set off to better his abilities, pursue his writing career, and save as many people as possible along the way. Character Concept 2: A fire genasi warlock (with tiefling blood). He grew up in an orphanage with all sorts of different children. How did he end up there? Well, his efreet father disappeared after bedding his tiefling mother, and she decided that he was a freak at his birth. One day, an argument broke out between himself and the headmistress of the orphanage, resulting in several fires breaking out and his eventual expulsion form the place he was raised. Alone, scorned, and angry, he fled to the streets, scavenging food from dumpsters and hiding from the public eye. Eventually, he grew sick of living like this and begged for change. Then, he was contacted by a fiend of great power. He now goes by the "Ashen Devil" and is reputed as a very, very dangerous and cruel individual.
No experience other than watching on YouTube and researching
I just wanna play the game and input a little comedy and enjoy the experience with everyone
Foxtrot21#7219
I've never played a ttrpg but I've always been more interested in the ones where the vibes are hood and there's humor. I'm indifferent about the difficulty of a campaign. If you wanna make it to where the combat and puzzles are easy that's fine or if it's a little harder and I wind up dying then so be it.
The only thing that might bore me is maybe if there's not alot of interaction and everything is straightforward and nonstop combat.
I like all 3 I guess its more about mixture
I dont want to have expectations for them. Aslong as they are decent human beings itll be cool
Be patient with people who are learning. Follow the rules of the game but leave a slight wiggle room for the cool stuff. Dont be salty or controlling. Allow for a reasonable amount of shenanigans.
The character I really want to play is a stout halfling druid called Charles Thickerson. Hes s good person who distrust authority figures and religious figures. Hes overweight and he's like it. Hence the name Thickerson lmao
If I need to play a different class for party party composition then I'm fine with that but that character will be memey too lol
Name/Pseudonym: Caitlin Age: 20 Pronouns: She/They Experience: A little over a year. Have been in a Lost Mines of Phandelver campaign. Playstyle: I love exploring and combat, but I like roleplaying the most. Discord: cutecat00#4459 What sorts of activities do you most enjoy getting up to in a TTRPG game?: Discovering lore about the world around me and learning more about the other party members. What sorts of activities bore you the most in a TTRPG game?: Party members fighting over things that ultimately don't matter. Between Roleplay/Exploration/Combat, which is your favorite pillar?: Exploration for sure. I also like when roleplay leads to new discoveries. What are your expectations of your fellow players?: To have fun and be engaged in roleplay. I don't love when my teammates just want to kill everything, I like coming up with creative solutions to issues. What are your expectations of your DM?: To let us players have fun and do some things that may not be in the rules if its creative and doesn't break the rules of the world too much.
Character Concept 1: An Eladrin Warlock with an Archfey patron, Lurue. She has the Entertainer background, but hasn't done too much entertaining since forming her pact with her patron. She is very logical in the way she thinks, but believes that creativity is what the world needs. She has a hard time forming bonds with new people due to tragically losing her partner in the past. Her patron has not asked much of her yet, but she has also been distancing herself from others in fear of what they will make her do.
Character Concept 2: A white dragonborn druid who only has ice and water abilities. She is a researcher and searches for answers about her own abilities and the world around her. She is very patient with those who do not understand her intrigue and hopes to educate her party and the people the party come across to help spread knowledge across the world. She always tries to be an impartial judge when there is a dispute, but this leads to her trying to find the good in people who no longer deserve it. She would eventually become apart of the Circle of the Land (Arctic).
Name/Pseudonym: Chris Age: 24 Pronouns: He Experience: Several months Playstyle: Roleplay, developing the character in the context of interactions with the world and other players Discord: GunderGunderson#8405 What sorts of activities do you most enjoy getting up to in a TTRPG game?: I like to roleplay and discover what my and other characters do with given situations What sorts of activities bore you the most in a TTRPG game?: Any activity can get boring if the table gets mired in the unnecessary minutiae Between Roleplay/Exploration/Combat, which is your favorite pillar?: Mostly roleplay, but every pillar is significant What are your expectations of your fellow players?: I expect players to recognize and behave as if the dm's story and other player's characters are as important as theirs. What are your expectations of your DM?: I expect the dm to try to work with players to reasonably integrate the narrative with the designs of the players. Character Concept 1: A variant human rune knight who is just a jaded army veteran who is making a living with the only appreciable talents he has; his skills with weapons. Character Concept 2: A high elf artificer that explores to rediscover ancient magics and technology. He is on the expedition to gratify his thirst for these relics and to expand his own capacities with what the group finds.
P.S. I leave a lot of the background open so that I can build the details around what would fit most with the group and setting.
Name/Pseudonym: Amanda Age: 24 Pronouns: She/They Experience: A few months experience Playstyle: Chaotic Dumbass. I enjoy having fun and going through with bad ideas unless they're a detriment to the party (e.g. There's a slope? Getting the shield out and sledding down it. There's a beholder somewhere here? Nah, being careful.) I also prefer being more of a support character. Discord: Larrikin#1273 What sorts of activities do you most enjoy getting up to in a TTRPG game?: Shenanigans. Give me all the shenanigans. What sorts of activities bore you the most in a TTRPG game?: I don't find any of it boring really? I enjoy all aspects that I can think of. Between Roleplay/Exploration/Combat, which is your favorite pillar?: I enjoy all of them, but I do enjoy the roleplay aspect the most. What are your expectations of your fellow players?: Being generally decent people willing to have fun. Which, by the sounds of it, is very much likely to be the case! What are your expectations of your DM?: The same as above. Character Concept 1: Elion Katar, half-elf bard, has been travelling for the past couple of years providing entertainment to all they can. Mostly they prefer to entertain the poorer of society though, finding that they have greater need for their entertainment and also have the richer history and folklore and stories to share. They were finally resting in town after an arduous journey when they heard about the expedition and jumped at the chance to learn more history and perhaps get inspired for more songs and poems. Character Concept 2: Verlienne Cobblecairn, halfling life cleric, has given herself the task of finding relics or other important objects of the gods. Not just her own, but for the churches and deities of others. All gods deserve equal worship whether she agrees with their beliefs or not, in her opinion, and so upon hearing about the expedition to the ruins outside of Baressa she felt like this would be an excellent starting point for this self-imposed quest.
Name/Pseudonym: Michie Age: 21 Pronouns: She/her Experience: ~3yrs Playstyle: Roleplay-focused, centered mainly on character development and supporting the character development of the rest of the party Discord: michie_bjork#2299
What sorts of activities do you most enjoy getting up to in a TTRPG game?: I really like roleplay aspects, combat, and finding more about the lore of various places and people as I come across them in the world. Mysteries and cryptic encounters are always a plus for me.
What sorts of activities bore you the most in a TTRPG game?: Constant combat wears me down. I like a healthy mix of roleplay, exploration, and combat.
Between Roleplay/Exploration/Combat, which is your favorite pillar?: Roleplay. I'm very big on interaction between my character and the other pcs and npcs.
What are your expectations of your fellow players?: Friendly people who are willing to have fun and invest in both the game and their character. People who are willing to engage with what the DM and the other players have created instead of making the campaign just about their own character. People who are invested in roleplaying too are good.
What are your expectations of your DM?: Someone who can work with each player on incorporating the players' characters and backstories into the world and the campaign
Character Concept 1: An aasimar monk (way of the Kensi) who served as a pirate from a young age, but was abandoned 6 months ago by the crew she once considered family as the result of a mutiny. Since then, she's been traveling from place to place trying to find out what's become of her former captain and her old ship, as well as find a new crew of sorts to join up with. She seeks revenge on the crew members that cast her overboard in the struggle for command – both for herself and on behalf of the captain and those who stood by him. In her mind, there's still adventure to be had, and she's not going to give up that freeing feeling of roaming the world just because she's not out on the sea anymore.
Character Concept 2: A fire genasi warlock who first encountered her archfey patron at a lavish ball hosted by her noble family, unaware of who he was until after she agreed to his deal. The archfey offered her a chance to explore the world and make her own mark on it instead of spending her life known as a the bastard daughter of a lord – both a stain on the family name and a spectacle to visiting members of other nobility. All the archfey asked of her in return was for her to do favors for him in the material plane whenever he needed her. Determined to rise above the position her family placed upon her, she travels the world at the whim of her patron, and has a chip on her shoulder reserved for those who underestimate her.

Playstyle: I like to interact with the world and learn more about the places I am exploring, I also enjoy playing my character more than taking the meta-game route in some scenarios.

What sorts of activities do you most enjoy getting up to in a TTRPG game? I enjoy interacting with the world around my character and having my character be creative in ways that affect the world whether a small or large impact.
What sorts of activities bore you the most in a TTRPG game?

What sorts of activities do you most enjoy getting up to in a TTRPG game?: Improvisation and co-operative roleplay with party members
What sorts of activities bore you the most in a TTRPG game?: Fellow players infighting (relationship development through conflict and conflict resolution can be interesting too)
Between Roleplay/Exploration/Combat, which is your favorite pillar?: Exploration
What are your expectations of your fellow players?: Build relationships with one another through role play in the world set by the dm
What are your expectations of your DM?: Establish a world and fantasy scenarios for players to interact with
Character Concept 1: Human rogue with a criminal background (ex-slave) looking to learn magic (long term multiclass) and to enjoy freedom to the fullest
Character Concept 2: Human Bastard child loses support from nobility after his mother passes away and has to figure out how to survive on his own (fighter/mage)

What sorts of activities do you most enjoy getting up to in a TTRPG game?: Intercharacter chats and development moments, challenging fights, and dice rolls
What sorts of activities bore you the most in a TTRPG game?: Shopping :(((
Between Roleplay/Exploration/Combat, which is your favorite pillar?: I enjoy them all fairly the same, but I do find roleplay a bit more interesting.
Character Concept 1:
A human sorcerer with hopes to multiclass into bard at some point.
Character Concept 2:
A fire genasi warlock (with tiefling blood).

I just wanna play the game and input a little comedy and enjoy the experience with everyone

What sorts of activities do you most enjoy getting up to in a TTRPG game?: Discovering lore about the world around me and learning more about the other party members.

What sorts of activities do you most enjoy getting up to in a TTRPG game?: I like to roleplay and discover what my and other characters do with given situations
What sorts of activities bore you the most in a TTRPG game?: Any activity can get boring if the table gets mired in the unnecessary minutiae
Between Roleplay/Exploration/Combat, which is your favorite pillar?: Mostly roleplay, but every pillar is significant
What are your expectations of your fellow players?: I expect players to recognize and behave as if the dm's story and other player's characters are as important as theirs.

Playstyle: Chaotic Dumbass. I enjoy having fun and going through with bad ideas unless they're a detriment to the party (e.g. There's a slope? Getting the shield out and sledding down it. There's a beholder somewhere here? Nah, being careful.) I also prefer being more of a support character.

What sorts of activities do you most enjoy getting up to in a TTRPG game?: Shenanigans.
