Game: D&D 5e Group type: Online - FoundryVTT Experience: Newish GM. I've hosted a handful of campaigns. Looking for players of all experience levels, from newbie to veteran. Location/Timezone: CST. I'm in Austin, Texas. Schedule: We'll play from 7-11pm CST on Friday nights. We'll use a 3:1 schedule of 3 weeks on and 1 week off. Roles sought: 2-3 players. Game style: Adventure heavy, RP on the lighter side. But any playstyle is welcome.
Looking for 2-3 players to begin a Tomb of Annihilation campaign to join a few players from a previous game. The group will be between 4-5 total players. The party will start at level 1 and at the beginning of the adventure. So far the group play has tended heavy on exploration and combat and light on RP.
Description
The description of Tomb of Annihilation reads: "The talk of the streets and taverns has all been about the so-called death curse: a wasting disease afflicting everyone who’s ever been raised from the dead. Victims grow thinner and weaker each day, slowly but steadily sliding toward the death they once denied.
When they finally succumb, they can’t be raised—and neither can anyone else, regardless of whether they’ve ever received that miracle in the past. Temples and scholars of divine magic are at a loss to explain a curse that has affected the entire region, and possibly the entire world."
The adventure takes places in the thick jungles that cover the Chultan peninsula to the south of Baldur's Gate and the Sea of Swords, as the party searches for the cause of the death curse. Full of savage goblins, giant lizards, and predatory beasts honed by centuries of living in the volcanic jungles, the Chultan peninsula has been the source of countless tales of darkness and mystery throughout Faerûn. Now, the cause of the death curse is believed to be somewhere on the dark continent, and many powerful forces hope to be the first to find it...
Rules for the game
All source books are allowed. Homebrew is allowed with approval (for balance reasons)
We will use a slightly buffed standard array for stats.
As stated, characters will start at level 1.
Multi-classing is allowed, but if it's something crazy like rogue/sorcerer/jedi, have a decent in-game reason why.
All characters must know at least one character player in-game. This will be determined during session zero. This helps build connections and makes playing in-character easier.
I do ask that characters fit into the story to some degree. Why would your character hack their way through a jungle full of lethal flora and fauna? What do you have to gain?
The campaign goes to level 11 and could take some time, so please be willing and able to invest the time required to see it through to the end. We will have one week off every month, so I would like everyone to make roughly 90% of our sessions. Obviously life happens, but we all rely on each other to create a good game and have fun, and missing players can make that tough.

i have only recently been into table top gaming but i love everything about it and i would really love to get started on my first campaign
my favorite ttrpg moment was when i tried to escape capture in Hunter the Vigil and i rolled so bad the dm said that i crapped my pants and i had to continue the rest of the one shot with crap in my pants and it made a lot of encounters very awkward to say the least
my least favorite moment was pretty much every time i played with a certain friend he would go straight into trying to fight every person we met, just made for really an unenjoyable campaign
im very into doing role play, but am also into combat and puzzles, im into it all!
Hey! I'm also from Austin! I've been playing DnD on and off for about two years now, but I've never played through a campaign before and I'm excited to experience something more substantive than one shot adventures. My favorite moment from DnD would have to be when I DMed for a pretty rambunctious group of friends and they ended up breaking into a fireworks stand and using fireworks to blow up a town... My worst moment was sitting through a really long/boring combat sequence with this dragon that no one in my party could hit. And finally, my typical style of play leans towards adventure. I like a good trek through the wilderness, so I'm really excited to explore the jungles in Chult. Anyways, I'm looking forward to hearing from you! My discord is Aucharis#6930.
I've years of experience as a DM when I was a kid now a few months playing. I'm fully back up to speed and am working on running my own campaigns soon.
Favorite gaming moment: Saving paladin from being squished in the jaws of a giant wolf I just killed by runing up its back and flipping onto the top of one of it's 3 heads. Saved the paladin using a telekinetic power to open it's mouth, while another human variant pulled him out.
Sitting through a session where the DM spent so much time explaining everything that there was almost no player interaction.
I like making combast interesting by attempting crazy things and using fun descriptions. (IE: running up the tail, and then back of a gaint wolf. Took em 2 acro checks and an athletics, but I pulled it off and killed the thing in fantastic fashion!). I love RP though an always play in character and am constantly looking for moments for interesting RP.
I love writing new characters will totally do a custom job for your campaign. I have 2 that I'm thinking coul be worked into your story given what I know.
One is a Shifter(was human but got mutated) Fighet(battlemaster)/Articifer(Battlesmith). Working name is Garion Trebaine. He was human, but for as yet to be revealed reasons volunteered for experimentation in a Simic Laboratory and was mutated into a Shifter. Once they were done mutating him, they wiped his memory and told him he would have to travel to the Tomb to recover an artifact or they wouldn't restore his memory.
The other is Dhampir Bloodhunter named Indigoya Wonderseeker. His story is a bit more complex, but he is essentially a part of somewhat cursed people called Wonderseekers who are obsessively driven to seek something for their entire lives. Most never find it, and even if they think they have eventually the compulsion to keep seeking comes back. This guy has it extra rough, because being immortal, he has been at this for while. Most just deal with it for one lifetime. He would be driven to the tomb for the obvious reason of compulsively seeking unknown wonders.
2.when my barbarian kicked in a door to a room full of hellhound rolled a nat 20 for initiative and 2 nat 20s on the first turn killing 2 hellhound in the same turn.
3.when one Champaign got canceled because a couple players made the dm have a breakdown.
4.i like getting in the enemies faces and taking them down.
Two people here (Father and Son) interested if you still have the spots. Time works perfectly for us as we are in Atlanta and always free from all obligations by that time on Friday nights.
How long have you been playing TTRPGs and what brought you to this game.
My son (17) is brand new to the game. His only experience comes from watching Critical Role. I'm 51 and played in high school but not since. I also got sucked back in with him watching Critical Role.
What is one of your favorite gaming moments.
We don't have moments to remember as we are NEW players. However, looking back on Critical Role, I truly enjoy the fun moments they have together, whether through laughing with each other or fighting the enemy together!
What is one of your lease favorite gaming moments.
I don't think we have anything we truly dislike about DnD, but it would really be a pain to roll a couple of natural ones in a row for simple things like deception or perception!
Typical style of play.
We definitely think we are adventurer/combat lovers. We want to have fun, learn and grow with a group. We also have in mind to play a half-orc fighter and half-elf rogue/assassin maybe with a combined backstory of both being outcast due to our lack of racial purity and meeting each other because of that shared experience.
How long have you been playing TTRPGs and what brought you to this game. Been trying to play campaign for 3 years. Saw on D&D Beyond and I am a player looking for a campaign
What is one of your favorite gaming moments. When I won (Just trying some humor) .... Have not had a campaign yet so really can't say
What is one of your lease favorite gaming moments. When we are three session in an either group falls apart or GM drops out Those are bummers
Typical style of play. Truly depends on my characters back round the DMs' and Players vibes Not really a style as much it is a feel of how character would/should react to story line
My name is sushi a GM for most of my career with an avid passion to try my hand at being a player.
I have been playing TTRPGs for over 7 years now mostly as GM.
My favorite gaming moments are challenging combat, coherent party strategy, and the overcoming of mechanical and roleplay barriers through a variety of tools and the ability to expand beyond a party of adventurers, by that I mean hirelings, possible political affiliation, and influences, strongholds, and other possessions.
My least favorite is railroading and Deus ex-machinas, the GM is also a player if the GM overbalances an encounter and gets a TPK then they should face the consequences and not bring in some incoherent way to save the player characters. If there is no death there is no risk v reward aspect.
I run all sorts of games, but I definitely prefer more combat/exploration heavy with opportunities for players to make impactful decisions.
I'm pretty new to TTRPGs - have under a year of DnD under my belt but have fallen in love with it :)
One of my favorite gaming moments (I have not had too many so far) was when a DM let my mischievous gnome give some kids magical wedgies for playing a prank on her. Least favorite would have to be another player having their character ditch the group because they didn't like us wanting to kill some innocent seeming grannies (spoiler: they were NOT innocent!).
Honestly, I'm new enough that I can't say what my typical style of play is - I just know that I like to have fun with it! I'm not a huge rulebreaker but I like seeing how my character develops and getting creative with my gameplay. Absolutely flexible though. I'm trying to get more gameplay and experience in so I can try my hand at DMing sometime :)
How long have you been playing TTRPGs and what brought you to this game?
I played about 2 1/2 years of 3.5 back in the day, and I got back into D&D a couple of years ago. Been trying to find a 5e game for my Friday Nights.
What is one of your favorite gaming moments?
Fun gaming moments are when you are out on a quest looking for object 'A' and find Item 'B'. Getting surprised that someone you thought was a foe ended up being a friend behind the scenes. The twists and turns of the knife are fun to me.
What is one of your least favorite gaming moments?
The moments that I don't like are when people quit the game - without warning - during gameplay. I have been in a few games when that happens, and a player just drops. Takes the steam out of the players and is rude to the DM to leave without notice.
A typical style of play.
I like to PR - what would my character do and why? This is a Role-Playing game after all. But, there has to be a reason for the RO - which leads to the adventuring - finding the places that have been long forgotten and fighting through hordes of creatures to find the prize, or save the person or heir, or do the thing that saves the world.
I am pretty new to these kinds of games, I have played two short homebrewed campaigns with close friends. Those games are inconsistent I want to play a campaign that is a bit more regular.
My favorite gaming moment had to come when we were fighting our first big boss of the campaign who was knight with a great sword who used magical energy chains to grapple the party. Our rogue killed the knights companions while the rest of us tried our best to keep him at bay but he slowly pushed us back. When it finally came to just us and the knight he chained the entire party down and began pummeling the rogue. Just before the knight was able to finally kill our rogue, our barbarian managed to finally break his chains and charge the knight from behind and decapitate him with a surprise attack. Everyone in the party jumped up and shouted with excitement.
My least favorite moment is pretty simple, later on we would fight some chuul in a cave with a river running through it. While trying to cross the river and join the fight my sorcerer was swept away due to a series of bad strength checks and spent the entire fight going in a circle around river.
I haven't played enough to have a real style of play, but I think I want try a front line tank with just a touch of magic so maybe a paladin.

Hi there i was wonder if there was still a spot.
I started back in 2013 playing 3.5e but only got back into it last year playing 5e
My favourite gaming moment was when my friend chose to "Act Dead" and rolled a nat 1 with a -1 in charisma so he got a 0
When a friend of my tried to F anything and everything that moved.
My typical style is playoff, as in i play off other characters interactions with the world. (If that makes sense)
