Hello, I am looking to run a one-shot for four players.
What you can expect from me:
The adventure is by the well-known content creator M.T. Black and will be set in the Forgotten Realms on the Sword Coast. It will be about eight or so encounters and offers opportunities for roleplaying, exploration, and combat.
I like to keep my games moving at an engaging pace. I should be able to post at least once a day once the adventure starts, but typically more than once per day.
I enjoy creating a fun and entertaining story with the players. Play-By-Post D&D is a creative outlet for me.
I will do my best to follow the rules, but if you feel I've forgotten something or adjudicated incorrectly, please feel free to let me know.
Content may include graphic descriptions of violence, strong/foul language, themes of loss or grief. I will not get into anything remotely sexual.
I will create a Campaign here on dndbeyond and invite the players to it. We'll roll in character sheet as much as possible, but if we need to roll in thread that's fine too.
I'll roll initiative for everyone as needed and post the initiative order in thread.
I use battle maps and tokens for combat. Player Character tokens will be their chosen colors while enemies will be black.
What I expect from the players:
Be respectful to other players and myself. We're all here to have fun and enjoy playing D&D together, let's do just that.
Post at least once a day once the adventure has begun. I have a life outside of D&D too, I get it if you need to be AWOL for a day or two. Just be courteous and give us a heads up.
If a player doesn't post for a few days without warning or is unable to get along with others, they will be removed.
I'm not looking for min-maxers or multi-classers, but players who can play interesting characters well.
No homebrew, Magic: The Gathering, Critical Role, or Ebberon content.
If after all of that you're still interested, please reply with the following:
1. Link to a character sheet for a level 1 character
2. Answer the following question: Why is your character traveling to the town of Frickley? Frickley is a small farming hamlet on the western border of the High Forest, not far from the Sumber Hills.
Hiya Dylan. If you’re running a game, I’m applying. Meet :
Name : Grymar
Race : Hill Dwarf
Class : Ranger (headed for swarmkeeper)
Backstory / Why headed to Frickley? :
Born in a dwarven stronghold, Grymar was always an outsider among his kin, orphaned at a young age and left to fend for himself on the streets. While most dwarves spent their days crafting weapons and armor, Grymar found himself drawn to the natural world. He spent his days exploring the nearby forests and mountains, learning all he could about the plants and animals that lived there. Despite his love of nature, Grymar never forgot his dwarven heritage. He became an expert in tracking and hunting, using his skills to provide food for himself and his close friends (few though they were).
Grymar’s life took a dramatic turn when he discovered a unique bond with a swarm of bees that had taken up residence in a nearby forest. He found that he could almost communicate with the bees and use their abilities to aid him in his hunting and tracking. Grymar became fascinated with these creatures and began to study them in depth, learning all he could about their behaviors and habits. He had similar interests with swarms of birds and he practiced the sounds of toads to ease his boredom at night.
Despite his success and skills, Grymar still struggled to find acceptance among his fellow dwarves. They saw his love of nature as a weakness and often mocked him for his unconventional methods, and his poor hygiene. Grymar didn't let their words get to him, however, and continued to fight for what he believed in. When times were difficult, he learned to navigate the dangerous alleyways and pickpocket from unwary merchants if necessary in order to survive. A fellow urchin named Drogan who knew the ways of the land taught Grymar how to use a bow and spear. He began to travel and he discovered that his connection with the natural world was a valuable asset and he sought his fortune, hoping that it would improve.
Grymar wound his way through the wild forest pursuing an interesting species of hornet and eventually ends up near Frickley. He felt like he should wander into the sleepy little hamlet for supplies. And out of curiosity.
Grymar wanders into town trying to stay on the periphery, unnoticed as he usually does. “Best not to gain attention. These foreign folk might not take kindly to me. Let’s have a looksee.” He has been sipping on his own home brew working up the courage as we walks closer and closer into town.
You see an unkempt dwarf with ratty hair in scale mail armor carrying a spear walking into town, he does have well fitting leather boots which look well worn and comfortable. He pauses and pulls out two bees that he has kept in a little pouch on his belt and seems to talk to them, he seems daft on your initial take. He looks for the village tavern, looking to resupply, walking in and blending into the shadows. The barkeep in Frickley sees two bloodshot eyes amongst scruffy hair standing a little below the bar, and a voice comes up “Whatcha known for aroun here, whas your favorite local brew, eh?”
Zubien is always on the hunt for history and arcana. Moving through the High Forest, Zubien has been collecting lost lore of the region, but now his path takes him towards Frickley.
Kaiser was found in his village by some monks outside of winterhaven. The monks took him in and raised him on the monastery. He was beloved and took to his teachings seriously. When he became of age he set out into the world to Learn of his kinds history. He carries the peacefulness he learned at the monastery, but quickly becomes worldly and takes to drinking lots of ale which can make him go into a rage.
Backstory / Why headed to Frickley? : Apprenticed as a glassblower in Baldur's Gate under my father, giving me membership in the guild. My membership in a craftsmen's guild is what first introduced me to the church of Gond, the god of craft. My visits to the church of Gond began as social affairs, but I soon found truth in the words of his priests. That truth found its way into my work. My act of creation became a spiritual practice and my faith deepened. However, a turning point in my life came when I came under attack by paladin with a lingering hatred of all things infernal, tieflings included. I prayed to Gond for succor and found myself protected by his will. His intervention saved my life, and it seemed only fitting that I devote myself to his service. As part of my devotional training, I've set off to view the wonders of the world and visit various provinces to learn of their unique regional craftwork. All as a meditation on the various forms of Gond's blessing throughout Faerûn. The last wonder I saw was the Stone Bridge across the River Dessarin, a marvel to behold. After viewing something of such awe, I was excited to stumble upon small village of Frickley. I'm interested to visit their hamlet and learn more of the local craft folk while always keeping an eye out for any unexpected opportunities to serve my god.
Sir Beauregard Bonecrusher trudges wearily down the dirt road that leads to Frickley. With his orcish build he could easily make town by dinner time by loping, but instead he carries himself as a knight should. He ignores the unfriendly stares of the peasants, hopeful that he will be able to prove his worth around the next bend.
Hello ! Sounds like the start of a great adventure. I like your presentation style so I'll submit my druid ! I used point buy
