Hi there. I'm having trouble understanding the dash mechanic, or speed/movement, and more specifically when the ability is used twice in a turn (Rogue/Monk). Especially if Feline Agility is then activated.
Can someone do the math for me in the proper order so I can understand this?
A) - 50ft of speed/movement. - Feline Agility would change my speed to 100ft. - Action Dash would make this 200ft. (100ft+100ft). - Bonus Action Dash would make this 300ft. (100ft+200ft).
Is that how it works?
B) Otherwise, wouldn't it be: -50ft of speed/movement. - Action Dash would make this 100ft. (50ft+50ft). - Bonus Action Dash would make this 200ft. (100ft + 100ft). - Feline Agility would make this 400ft. (200ft. + 200ft).
Feline Agility. Your reflexes and agility allow you to move with a burst of speed. When you move on your tum in combat, you can double your speed until the end of the tum. Once you use this trait, you can't use it again until you move 0 feet on one of your turns.
So you move, doubling your speed to 100ft with Feline Agility.
You Dash for a further 100ft (take the move action again).
You Bonus Action Dash for a further 100ft.
Each of these is a separate item of movement for calculation purposes. Dashing essentially allows you to take another Move action.
The increase equals your speed, after applying any modifiers. With a speed of 30 feet, for example, you can move up to 60 feet on Your Turn if you dash.
So your speed is 50ft x 2 = 100ft. Each time you dash you move another 100ft. Your speed does not change to 200ft after having dashed.
Yeah, modifiers (which would include things like feline agility, longstrider, boots of speed ) are applied to your base speed. Dashing is not a modifier, it is a second use of your movement (ie your speed) granted by your action (or bonus action, in this case).
So a tabaxi rogue monk with longstrider and feline agility would have [2 * (base speed +10)] + [2 * (base speed +10)] + [2 * (base speed +10)] if they dashed twice (for the record assuming 50 base speed that would be [2 * (50 +10)] + [2 * (50 +10)] + [2 * (50 +10)] = 360 feet of movement that turn.
For the record, I'm applying the continuous effect (the +10 from longstrider) before the doubling from the singular effect (feline agility). I generally adjudicate modifiers in chronological order, so this assumes the longstrider was active before the turn started.

You guys are great, thanks so much! <3.
