In the Players Handbook, every spellcasting class has a reference to a spellcasting focus and what can be used for that focus. But, there is no such mention in the ranger class. Does the ranger actually need a focus or component pouch to cast spells?
And now with Tasha's Cauldron, your GM can use the Optional Class Features for the Ranger to explicitly allow them to use a Druidic spellcasting focus.
It seems like, in the PHB at least, rangers get the short hand of the stick in LITERALLY EVERY FIELD OF THE GAME. And especially in terms of spellcasting.
Makes me wonder if a ranger murdered one of WoZ staff's family at one point, because you can't convince me this level of sabotage is not intentional.
I think more that they ran out of time and the design space left for ranger was narrow due to fear of "stepping on the toes" of other class. Combine that with a less that concrete class fantasy and you get PHB ranger and all of the attempts to fix it.
Still, considering how other half-casters works, ranger's methods stick out like a sore thumb (especially considering that paladin exists, and he also mainly a damage dealer).
All I'm asking is for the ranger spellcasting abilities to be on par with the rest of the half casters.

Rangers get the short end.
No spellcasting focus for them. You need a component pouch.

Thank god for Tasha's and Xanathar's.

Rangers and Fighters are the king of Damage per round. Giving them great spells on top of that is over-kill.
