Thanks for coming here to deal with my noob problems. The situation is, I do not want them to bypass certain mechanics in the game - as we have a sorc multiclass running things like subtle casting in metamagic, and war caster in their feat. I don't really want to make the class benefits useless as it's a sorcerers job to break magic. I'd like a homebrew, or in game magical item solution that doesn't throw out entire feats and build paths.
I might be misreading how wands and arcane focus works as well. My initial idea was to let them store the components inside their arcane focus as they choose prepped spells, as a house rule to still have to track inventory, but not throw out the rules all together. Another idea I had was simply letting them channel components without it being an action to reach into their pouch and interact with an object. Example being a warcaster raising their sword, and the wood chip levitates from their pouch to become the component in the spell.
Really need some opinions and thoughts on this. YouTube video dives into the subject are welcome also.
If you have an arcane focus then that replaces the need to use spell components (unless the spell lists material components with a gp value, or the component is consumed by the spell).
They hold the focus, what it might look like, in one of their hands, to cast a spell with an M component. If the spell has Somatic component, then they wave that focus around to perform those somatic movements.

Note that if the spell has a somatic component, but not a material component, then they need an empty hand (that isn't even holding a focus) yo cast these spells. Unless they have the war caster feat (you mention the sorc does, but this is very important for clerics and paladins, etc).

Thanks in advance!

For components with a gp value or which are consumed by the spell, the player will have to track their availability in the PCs inventory.
Thank you! This solves my issues, and it was just me and the gang lacking the knowledge.
