there is an item in tashas cauldron of everything called an alchemical compendium. with it, you can transmute objects into other objects of the same value. there is also a spell most of you have heard of, Fabricate. lets say you had a sword weighing 5 lbs, and a scrap piece of metal also weighing 5 lbs. the sword is worth much more, because of the time that went into making it. fabricate reduces the crafting time to only 10 minutes for anything, so you could in theory, turn the metal into the sword, increasing its value. with the compendium, you can turn an object into something of equal or lesser value, so you could choose to turn the sword you just made into more steel, except this time, it is a lot more than you had originally.
so lets say the sword was a greatsword worth 50 gp, and steel was 1sp per pound. this means you suddenly turn 5 lbs of steel into 500. you could repeat this, or do a different item, maybe a spyglass.
if you fabricate a "cube" of greatswords (they are attatched by tiny pieces of break - away material, like in a 3d printer, so that they are one object) you can then transmute this, which probably costs 1000s of gold at this point into, you guessed it, more steel.
this is essentially selling your 4th level spell slots for an immense level of profit, easily paying off the compendium in a day or so.
(disclaimer: do not use this in a campaign)

Hollow unbreakable arrows are the most OP common magic item, and my current method of coming up with insane combat shenanigans.
if you make a steel pipe with one end closed and a nozzle on the other, you can enlarge it, fill with any liquid, and then drop concentration, creating a high pressure squirt gun. (or a pipe bomb, depending if it holds)
As an action, you can touch a nonmagical object that isn’t being worn or carried and spend a number of charges to transform the target into another object. For 1 charge, the object can be no larger than 1 foot on a side. You can spend additional charges to increase the maximum dimensions by 2 feet per charge. The new object must have a gold value equal to or less than the original.
You also can’t use it to create items that ordinarily require a high degree of craftsmanship, such as jewelry, weapons, glass, or armor, unless you have proficiency with the type of artisan’s tools used to craft such objects.
Well, assuming you have proficiency in blacksmith's weapon making tools...
You could make 1 item. You could turn the sword into 5 pounds of steel or the steel into a sword (assuming you had the skill in tools).
The 5 foot cube would suck all the charges per day (assuming maximum charges) from the book for one attempt -- but you are bending the rules by saying the swords are all connected.
You cannot turn 5 pounds into 50, however -- that isn't a capability of the magical item. it would make another 5 pound thing. Your reading of it tries to make the reverse of the "gold value" true for the amou to f the thing, and that isn't how the magical item functions.

The alchemical compendium has charges and you drain them. Can you make gold with this combo? Sure. But you could also just make gold with fabricate all by itself. Turn scrap metal into a sword. Sell it.Buy steel, repeat. The alchemical compendium doesn't really help you other than not needing to buy and sell during the intermediary steps. But if you find yourself with downtime in a major city this shouldn't be a problem in the least.
Just remember your DM is going to be aware of how many high level spell slots you've burned. Haha.
It is apparently so hard to program Aberrant Mind and Clockwork Soul spell-swapping into dndbeyond they had to remake the game without it rather than implement it.

I'm probably laughing.
