I have a 2nd level Ranger in one of my campaigns that somehow ended up with a +14 attack bonus with a Longbow. They took Archery as their 'fighting style' choice at level 2. Their Dex bonus is +4 and their proficiency bonus is +2, and the Archery Fighting Style grants a +2. My math says that makes their attack bonus a +8. Is this a glitch? It looks like the system has added the Dex & Prof bonuses twice to get the extra +6. Anybody know what's happened here, and how to fix it?
This might have been better posted to the Bugs & Support forum.
But yes, from what you described your bonus to hit should be +8. Could you share the character, either directly or by making a copy to share? That would probably be easier than us trying to guess and check what is on your character sheet.
I think it's probably the Archery Fighting Style somehow repeating itself. Try removing it from your character sheet, and see what the total is then.

Look at what you've done. You spoiled it. You have nobody to blame but yourself. Go sit and think about your actions.
Don't be mean. Rudeness is a vicious cycle, and it has to stop somewhere. Exceptions for things that are funny. Go to the current Competition of the Finest 'Brews! It's a cool place where cool people make cool things.

I'm getting the EXACT same issue. Level 4 wood elf range, longbow +14 to hit. +4 Dex, +2 prof, +2 archery = 8. I've completely recreated the same character from scratch and its only giving +8 to hit. If you edit the character sheet, you have to remove archery twice! The first time you remove it, it looks like its going (loading circle) then repopulates with archery. Second time it goes. Re-add it back in, all looks OK now.

Sounds like a bug to me also. I would report it like Fangeye suggested.
Until then, a workaround would be to customize the attack. In the To Hit Bonus box, apply a -6 to it.
