As the DM, I would probably look at the Dragonmark spells granted by that and see what school is most common among the spells. For example, a Mark of Warding Dwarf quite clearly gains access mostly to Abjuration spells, so I would have it clock as Abjuration magic.
Dragonmarks: Each dragonmark’s description includes a list of dragonmark spells that flow from the magic of the mark
Ah, then what kind of magic would aberrant dragonmarks be? Since Detect Magic tells the person what school of magic is, if applicable??
The caster of Detect Magic only see an aura around object if visible, and learn the school of magic if applicable. Dragonmarks don't provide school so it would be up to DM if there's any.
Detect Magic: If you sense magic in this way, you can use your action to see a faint aura around any visible creature or object in the area that bears magic, and you learn its school of magic, if any.

Title says it all.
I'd have easily say it can when the mark is being actively used, but I'm unclear whether it would still be pinged if it's not active.
Since Dragonmarks are magical to me Detect Magic should detect it.
