I've debated mightily about posting this here, but I figured why not. The group I DM for and I have been recording our sessions to podcast and have just been approved by Google Play and Spotify (with iTunes on the way soon, I hope).
A little warning: the audio quality for the first few episodes is NOT good. I take the blame for that, we have been operating with a single mic setup until last night's session (what would be session 7 of the podcast) and that made things quite difficult. Not to mention I hadn't started treating the room with soundproofing materials at the beginning.
Another little warning: I'm a new DM running a boxed game for a group of folks that have a variety of experience, so there will likely be things I do wrong. I would like to thank all of you for your patience as I learn and try to improve as a DM, should you choose to listen.
All in all, I have found the D&D Community to be a great group of supportive people, many folks on this site have helped me with campaign planning and character development arcs. I would like to personally thank each and every one of you who choose to listen to the podcast, it means a great deal to me.
Hey man! Congrats on getting a podcast up! It's a fun thing to share the experiences you have around the table. We started out very much the same (single mic before switching to multiple mics and tracks/sound treatment). May I ask what your setup looks like now for sound? You mentioned you're no longer on one mic. If you want some tips feel free to message me and I can talk about the ways we setup /edit.
Don't worry about doing things "wrong!" Whatever you and your party enjoy, then that's right! I'm looking forward to hearing you grow as a DM and all the laughs and adventures you and your friends have!
Absolutely! Right now it’s 5 dynamic mics for the players and I have a condenser mic behind the screen. I’ve got my office pretty well sound treated, but there’s a large window, so we’ll have to contend with that always.
Have a 12 input mixer I have routing into Adobe Audition for editing, but since the switch to a the multiple mic setup I haven’t had to do much in the way of actual treatment on the files.
