Hello thanks for checking out this thread. I could use help as a player for some ideas on how to evacuate a casino ship docked in a harbor. Context; The ship is full of commoners gambling and drinking. What they don't know is that the human dealers in the casino are actually disguised Sea Hags. We as the players are trying to move carefully to secure the ship without panicking the commoners, who will surely suffer massive casualties if stoked into a panic by the murderous Sea Hags. The previous captain has gone missing and was found dead by us in the lower decks. The new captain was also revealed as a Sea Hag. So we got a coven of witches who are harvesting "greed". Any clever ideas? So far all I got is starting a fire in the lower decks hoping that panic doesn't provoke the Sea hags
If the "harvesting greed" are working, you can try to play a bit with the Hags. Jump to another ship or even the harbor and pretent to run another cassino where that commoners could "make more profit". The hags should go mad but I think they might enjoy a business strugle and if you have enough resources to convince the commoners they should leave quickely the ship. Maybe you can end up running out from mad gamblers but, well, you just need to save them.
Maybe instead of actually starting a fire, which could end up killing people, you just say there is one. Run around the ship telling, fire. Use some illusion magic to make fake smoke. Or say there was a pirate attack and people need to flee.
Or, instead of overthinking it, just run around saying there are sea hags on the boat. Then you do t have to make any deception checks along the way.
Use magic to make folks begin losing too frequently. They'll get pissed off and leave, or leave when they run out of money. In a casino you're going to run out of money anyway. This just speeds the process up. But when folks leave, there'll be lots of talk about how the casino cheats, so fewer folks will go back.
If you want to raise the "stakes", try to steal the winnings from the Hags so it may be returned to the commoners.

Your parties may have been different, but I've never had a party that was better at persuasion than deception. Occasionally there will be a paladin or some such that takes persuasion but not deception, but they've been balanced out by the rogues with expertise in deception but not persuasion.
What is the party make-up? An Eloquence or Glamor Bard would be ideal and convincing the pesents to leave. An illussion of rats or chamed rats and a rumor of the rats being Plague carying could do the trick.

Spread a rumor that the tavern on the opposite side of town is offering free drinks- but that the offer is ending soon.
Only spilt the party if you see something shiny.
