Honestly, I have not played the Undead Warlock but I really like it. Makes me wonder why WotC is working on another patron that occupies the same domain (word choice?) as the Undying Warlock. Is this a "fix" to the unpopular Undying patron? I love the concept of a powerful Lich, Vampire, ghost, or even a banshee as a patron.
There is nothing in the UA that makes me think the Patron is OP in terms of power creep. The 1st and 6th level features are pretty powerful as you get a nice defense and offensive boost with the Temp HP, extra necrotic damage, and the ability to frighten.
I’ve recently chosen the Undead Patron, and I really like the design. I was a little confused at first about the naming, but I do see a thematic difference: Undying seems to be all about avoiding death, whereas Undead focuses more on the spooky-deadly aspect of the undead.
Personally, I think it gives plenty of opportunities, especially around Lv. 10, where you can basically be a sort of suicide bomber but still manage to get out alive. It’s risky, but, with the right build, it can do serious damage. It also pairs well with Vampiric Touch: at Lv. 6, you can add another damage die and heal yourself even further. I’m really excited to see what happens with it

I like the idea of a banshee as a patron... I came up with the idea for an Undead Warlock / Shadow Sorcerer character, but I was stuck on coming up with a good patron. We often do LVL 8 one shots, so it's easy to "test" different multi-classes. Mine would be 5 Bladelock / 3 Sorcerer.
Backstory is she accidentally told too many secrets to some visitors to her village, that were actually cultists and monsters disguised by illusions. One day when she was away, they destroyed the village, killed her family, friends, and everyone else. She found some clues, and she came across a banshee in the smoking remains of the village that night. It was the spirit of the town medicine woman. The banshee told her what happened, and had some idea of who and what the invaders were. So, she is seeking them out, filled with vengeance, and willing to acquire any power she can to put an end to the ones that destroyed her village. Riddled with guilt at her slip of the tongue when she was younger, she is careful to speak only when absolutely necessary. She is Silence.

Anyone played this UA subclass? What was your experience? Was it OP, UP just right? What are the abilities that you all think will get changed?
Thanks
