So my Paladin Oath of Vengeance character just died and we can't bring him back. For a new character I was looking at doing a Undead patron Warlock . Concept of the character is he is a Reborn(or custom lineage, haven't decided) who after his death was unknowingly experimented on by his patron(a lich, who also happens to be a major boss in our game) in order to make a sort of living phalactory(don't know if I spelled that right). He doesn't even remember he died. He gets flashes of memories so he knows he is missing something, he just doesn't know what exactly.
Pact and multiclass wise im thinking three things:
Pact of the Blade with a scythe as his pact weapon and a dip into fighter
Pact of the Tome with a dip into Shadow Sorcerer
The Death Warden Build- Pact of the Chain(may swap for pact of the Tome) with a dip into Divine Soul Sorcerer
Am kinda leaning towards pact of the Tome but I wanna try and get creative and get feedback on the other builds I listed as well.
Those are very different characters, to the point it’s tough to compare them. I guess, are you more interested in melee or casting, since those are the two obvious, main paths to go down. So which do you prefer, and does your party composition nudge you toward one or the other?
We currently have an Abjuration Wizard(who may be leaving due to scheduling conflicts), a Beastmaster Ranger, an Assassin Rogue, and a Stormlord Barbarian
My DM is pretty open minded with customizing characters, so I was gonna ask about swapping the two proficiencies from Reborn for a feat I stead. Thinking either Meta Magic or Shadow Touched
Ok, but again are you thinking melee or casting. With that party composition, you could go either way. I’d think casting if the wizard is leaving. But I’m sure it can work either way.
As far as feats, I do think meta magic is a valid choice for sorcerers (if you go that way) but not really great for anyone else. Those 2 points can be really useful if you already have a pool. But otherwise, it’s basically a feat that lets you do one trick per day. I guess with a warlock, you could see if your DM will let you convert pact slots to sorcery points, then short rest and get the slots back. But the rest of your party probably isn’t going to be too excited about all those short rests.
