I'm playing a sailor background undead tomelock (well, almost L3).
i was planning to take Light as a Tome cantrip coz I don't have darkvision. i also wanted to kinda let the 2 pc's with darkvision have that as *their thing*, so i wasn't planning on taking Devil's Sight.
i got excited too for the flavor of getting Grave Touched, and being able to cast Light on a dagger, grip it in my teeth, dive into water and be able to both see and stay there indefinitely.
BUT now I'm rethinking my Tome cantrips coz they probably can't be switched out.
so:
how does Devil's Sight interact with water? is it exactly the same, that you can see clearly in all water of all brightness for 120 ft?
It’s very close to exactly the same. Murky water where there is dirt or sand or something else in the water blocking vision will block light, Darkvision, and devil’s sight. But in clear water that is pitch black because of no light you’d be able to see the full 120’.
