Hi everyone, this is my 1st subclass idea that I have created and I think will be fun to play. I created this subclass to make it sound more RP purposes and with later stage it can be a bit of a tank and a bit of sacrificial play IF necessary. I would be happy if you lovely people would like to try this class for your one-shot and give me some feedbacks. Would really eager to hear some feedback and comment about it.
//**The Gluttony**\\
You have made a pact with a mysterious entity from another realm, an otherworldly parasite invaded your body and provided you with magical force. Your patron can range from an Archfey to an unknown entity that made a pact with you, where the being’s motivation is to feed for their insatiable hunger.
Expanded Spell List
The parasite lets you choose from an expanded list of spells when you learn a warlock spell. The following spells are added to the warlock spell list for you
Spell Level
Spells
1st
Absorb Element, Inflict Wound
2nd
Blindness/Deafness, Darkness
3rd
Major Image, Vampiric Touch
4th
Evard’s Black Tentacles, Vitriolic Sphere
5th
Cloudkill, Dominate Person
Otherworldly Hunger
Starting at 1st level, you are in constant hunger to obtain your patron’s mystic arts. When you reduce a sentient creature with an Intelligence of 8 and above to 0 hit point, you must succeed a Wisdom Saving Throw or you gain a Hunger stack. The effect of otherworldly hunger is listed at the table in Appendix.
The insatiable hunger will subsides and reduce to 0 stack after you have consumed a sentient creature.
Uncontrollable Hunger
Beginning at 6th level, your patron grants you the ability to curse a group of creatures into hunger. As an action, choose a creature up to your Charisma Modifier you can see within 60 feet. Target creatures must succeed a Wisdom Saving throw or be charmed with hunger for 1 minute. Creatures charmed this way have disadvantage on attack rolls and Strength saving throws.
Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a short or a long rest.
Devour
Starting at 10th level, your patron transforms part of your body to devour the closest sentient creature. Whenever you have a hunger stack, you can use your action to consume a Medium size or smaller creature within 5 feet of you. Target creature must succeed a Dexterity Saving Throw or be swallowed. While swallowed, the creature is blinded and restrained, and takes 4d6 acid damage at the start of your turn. In addition, you recover that amount of hit points.
If you take damage more than half of your current hit points, you must make a Constitution Saving throw at the end of that turn or regurgitate the swallowed creature. If you die or are unconscious, the swallowed creature will regurgitate out at the end of the turn.
Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a short or long rest. In addition, your hunger stack resets to 0 if you successfully kill the swallowed creature.
Sacrifice
Starting at 14th level, you can make an extra pact with your patron to grant you inaccessible power. As an action, you can sacrifice your most valued belongings or part of your body as a payment for power. Describe the assistance you seek, and roll a D20. If you roll a number equal or lower to your warlock level, your patron intervenes. The DM decides the nature of the intervention; the greater the sacrifice, the stronger the intervention will be.
If your patron intervenes, you can’t use this feature again for 3 days and the component sacrificed cannot be returned, even through magical means such as wish spell. Otherwise, you can use it again after you finish a long rest and the sacrificing component remains.
Hunger
State of hunger represents an insatiable craving for the essence of a formerly living being. Upon defeating a sentient creature with an intelligence of 8 and above, and a failed Wisdom Saving Throw of DC10, a Hunger stack is placed upon the character, Hunger is measured in 5 levels. The effects of Hunger are stated in the table below.
1
The parasite provides you with fangs and claws. You gain the ability to do bite and claw attacks as an action, each dealing 1d4 piercing and slashing damage respectively.
2
Disadvantage in Wisdom Saving throw
3
Difficulty challenge of Wisdom Saving Throw increases by 5. In addition, damage and attack rolls are increased by 1d8 + strength modifier.
4
Wisdom saving throw increase by 5 (max 20) and increase damage and attack rolls by 2d8 + strength modifier
5
The insatiable hunger takes over and you become a Glutton. When you are in this state, you must spend 1 minute consuming the closest dead creature. Hostile creatures have advantages on attack rolls against you and you have disadvantages in saving throws. If you are disrupted, you spend your turn to attack the closest creature around you.
Ok so interesting concept. My thoughts. . When you swallow someone they can still harm you at least that’s true with monsters. So they need a way to cut out.take out the healing feeding your patron not you I also don’t like the idea of swallowing a clay gloam for unlimited healing.. Sacrifice as written is op really Really op. It lets you kill people without a way to bring them back and gives you a perk for doing so. I would suggest make it something from your life force instead your stat points. You lose the stat point regardless of intervention.
thank you very much for the input. ^^. i was tweaking the ability again after i posted this up yesterday. and ya. it is seriously op for some of the ability
