I can see doing that for campaigns that start at high level; I'd imagine the quality of life is pretty dismal for those first 14 levels, though, (which can potentially be a year of gaming if you do one session a week). Artificers have a few decent concentration spells, not as many as wizards or clerics but still, not to mention having super low HP the whole time. You're a failed dex save away from dying to a single AoE effect until you infuse that item. Was this character played from lvl 1 or did you start at a high level?
Monster hp rounds down on the hit dice, so do its number of hit dice*average rounded down (for scorpion its 2) then add its number of hit dice*4 (its new con mod unless it was higher)
Constitution does nothing for armor, it works Hit points, Constitution saving throws, and .... not armor, the amulet doubles the healing you get, now if the monsters, dragons, only hit you with healing blows...
