Wondrous Item, uncommon
Sending Stones come in pairs, with each stone carved to match the other so the pairing is easily recognized. While you touch one stone, you can cast Sending from it. The target is the bearer of the other stone. If no creature bears the other stone, you know that fact as soon as you use the stone, and you don’t cast the spell.
Once Sending is cast using either stone, the stones can’t be used again until the next dawn. If one of the stones in a pair is destroyed, the other one becomes nonmagical.

Posted Nov 2, 2025Keep in mind the stones can be carved to look however you like, they just have to match. Really great item for DMs. Put one stone in a place the players can get it, the other can be in anyone's possession then watch as the group tries to figure out the best 25 word sentence to send. Be sure to count the words in your replies and only allow 1 message per day resetting at dawn!

Posted Dec 18, 2025If anyone wants to get creative they say that they need to "match the other so the pairing is easily recognized" which does not particularly mean look exactly the same but could mean they contrast in some way like to apposing figures, maybe they are an iconic duo like Fire and Water or siblings, or, my personal favorite, they can fit together or be different sized depictions of the same thing. There is also no size limit and ANYONE touching it can communicate with the beer of the second, so a giant statue that people touch before praying can be connected to to a miniature depiction that someone uses to "answer prayers". Also this would;d be great for breaking a communication barrier because Sending states the receiver of the message hears the message and understands it, so not only can you understand it, you can start learning the language by comparing the meaning to the words over a long period of time, also I don't think the words need to necessarily be from a language and you can just spit something out that has the meaning of what you want to say avoiding needing to choose 25 words that perfectly explain your message clearly.
On the other note I could so se this accidentally ruining friendships after people realize when someone in game says something like "oh, that sounds nice" but they mean "I absolutely hate that idea", also great for therapy.
