A 20-foot-radius sphere of whirling air springs into existence centered on a point you choose within range. The sphere remains for the spell’s duration. Each creature in the sphere when it appears or that ends its turn there must succeed on a Strength saving throw or take 2d6 bludgeoning damage. The sphere’s space is difficult terrain.
Until the spell ends, you can use a bonus action on each of your turns to cause a bolt of lightning to leap from the center of the sphere toward one creature you choose within 60 feet of the center. Make a ranged spell attack. You have advantage on the attack roll if the target is in the sphere. On a hit, the target takes 4d6 lightning damage.
Creatures within 30 feet of the sphere have disadvantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks made to listen.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 5th level or higher, the damage increases for each of its effects by 1d6 for each slot level above 4th.
This spell works wonders for the caster's action economy. As long as you maintain concentration you're effectively denying a large area to the enemy, you can attack as a bonus action, and you still have your action free to cast another spell, dodge, or whatever else takes your fancy.
It's a 20 ft radius that's difficult terrain; drop it on their head and anything with less than 45 ft of movement gets two doses of it unless they burn an action to Dash. Also, that's all just a bonus, the real money maker is the 4d6 bolts of lighting you're blasting as a bonus action.
This spell really should be on the Druid spell list. They have very little use for their bonus actions and the "storm" theme is very "call of chaotic nature."
It should be on the druid list , but I think some of the dev teams have a wow mindset in which druid should mainly be healers which is dumb, but what can you do .the irony is the way that healing works in this game a Wizard just has to grab magic initiate druid to grab healing word and bang they have 90 percent of the reason druid is nerfed . also some people want to just do damage as a druid and that shouldn't be gate kept .
