Until the spell ends, your attacks with weapons deal an extra 1d4 Radiant damage on a hit.
No concentration. Finally I will use this spell
Oh man! Paladins gonna be slapping down some Radiant Damage!
But Hunter's Mark is WAY TO OVERPOWERED! Seriously, what's this nonsense about WOTC!
I know Savage Attacker doesn't apply to Smite damage but does it apply to Divine Favor? The language around Divine Favor is that your weapon deals more damage compared to Divine Smite where the target takes more damage. And just to confirm, at Level 11, the Radiant Strikes feature also doesn't get rerolled with Savage Attacker since it shares the same language as Smiting?
Just wondering if this spell can be cast on an ally since the range has been changed from 'self' to touch. The text says 'your attacks' but does that mean 'you' the caster, or 'you' the target?
I think it's still just your attacks. The smites have self not touch because they only have a Verbal component which when spoken takes effect on their self. With Divine Favor having a Verbal and Somatic component, I think touch means you make the gesture and need to perform a touch which would require a free hand. If you have something equipped in both hands, then you'd have to use a free object interaction to stow away your sword, cast Divine Smite with that now free hand, and then use the Attack action to reequip the weapon if you'd like and attack with it.
I just checked the 2024 online PHB and the spell is listed with a range of 'self'. Probably an error with the D&D Beyond listing.
Thank you! I was wondering how I would do the Somatic component and touch my weapon while also holding a shield. The spell list page and this page on the DnD website say "Touch"; I checked the online book on the Dnd Beyond app on my phone and it also said "Touch." However, like you said, the online version on the DnD website says "Self", and the physical book says "Self." The verdict is a range of "Self" it seems.
It was clarified in the Sage Advice Compendium that Savage Attacker only applies to rolls of the weapon's own damage dice, "not to any extra damage that a feature or other ability might grant". That seems pretty clear.
Thank you! Good to know that Savage Attacker is a pretty bad feat.
Yeah, while it does occasionally come in handy, most people feel it's not a powerful enough advantage to be worth taking up a whole feat for, especially when it doesn't also provide an ability score increase. This may be why it was downgraded to an "origin" feat in the 2024 Player's Handbook.
Why drop this from War Domain?
Also makes it very nice as a secret for Bards. Could do this and Hex or Dragon's Breath. Or all three.
Unfortunately this is no longer an option under 2024 rules, as the Bard's Magical Secrets feature no longer allows access to Paladin spells.
Yeah only good for a large damage die mainly rather than for riders. (Can use heroric inspiration for that with or in place of it).
or, you can, for instance, hold the dagger between thumb and index finger, and use your hand to "touch" the blade?
Seems weird that you can Smite with unarmed attacks but this spell can't..
Nice! Removed concentration requirement.
At a guess because Clerics are always going to be pretty meh as melee fighters after 1st tier, so they traded a self only weapon buff that barely does anything for you for an attack spell that can buff a follow-up attack from a teammate.
