Field Armorer Image

Before you became an adventurer, you were no stranger to war and the ensuing battles. You apprenticed as a blacksmith and general craftsman, spending many of those years on the front lines creating, adjusting and repairing weapons and armor for your companions. You learned how to quickly deconstruct broken armaments and use the raw components along with foraged materials to keep everyone's equipment intact.

Feature: Armorer's Intuition

You have created, repaired and maintained equipment for a long time. Exposure to various weapons, armors and the materials they're made of has given you insight in to the type of person that makes use of them. You are able to easily identify the social standing of an individual based on the quality of what they're wearing. Additionally, you can offer your services crafting or repairing equipment between adventures sufficient to maintain a comfortable lifestyle (see “Practicing a Profession” under “Downtime Activities” in chapter 8 of the Player’s Handbook).

Spell List

For you, the spells on the Field Armorer Spells table are added to the spell list of your spellcasting class. (If you are a multiclass character with multiple spell lists, these spells are added to all of them.)

Spell Level Spells
Cantrip mending
2nd shatter

You have an in depth knowledge of weapons and armor and how they are constructed, including the materials they are made from. This provides the insight needed needed to quickly repair or deconstruct them in a flash. Your magic is almost always utilitarian in nature, preferring speed instead of flash.

Suggested Characteristics

Use the tables for the guild artisan background below as the basis for your traits and motivations, modifying the entries when appropriate to suit your identity as a clan crafter. (For instance, consider the words “guild” and “clan” to be interchangeable.)

Your bond is almost certainly related to the master or the clan that taught you, or else to the work that you produce. Your ideal might have to do with maintaining the high quality of your work or preserving the dwarven traditions of craftsmanship.
