You grew up spending your time hunting either in order to survive or to make a name for yourself. Growing in skill and ability, you began taking tougher beasts for your trophies, learning how to collect and create your own trinkets and valuables from your fallen quarry. Whether you simply enjoy the sport or seek to make a living off of your trophies, you constantly seek bigger, better prey to harvest.
- Skill Proficiencies: Perception, Survival
- Tool Proficiencies: Leatherworker's Tools
- Languages: One of your choice
- Equipment: Leatherworker's Tools, a hunting trap, a trophy/trinket of your choice (Bonetooth bracelet, magically preserved eye that is now marble-like, or an adjustable strap made of leather from a slain quarry), a set of camouflaged clothes, and a pouch containing 10 gp.
When you defeat a foe in combat, you can preserve a part of its body and create a trophy that you can wear or brandish. In order to be worthy of your efforts, the opponent must have a CR greater than or equal to your current level. A trophy has a base cost equal to the defeated creature's CR VALUE x 50 gp. You first must harvest the body part you wish to make into a trophy using a Wisdom (Survival) check. DC for the check is the CR of the creature + 10. After this, you must spend time using Artisan’s Tools (Leatherworker's Tools) to create the trophy (1/2 hour of work per Challenge Rating Number). Once you create a trophy, you can sell it for its market price or wear it. When you create a trophy, you must design it to occupy space on your body as one of these kinds of magic items: amulet, belt, boots, or cloak. You cannot gain the benefit of both a magic item and a trophy if both occupy the same space on your body; in such a case, the magical object takes precedent.
While wearing a trophy, one gains advantage on Intimidate checks against creatures of the same type as the trophy, except for humanoids. In this case, the target must share the same subtype as the creature from which you crafted the trophy. Likewise, one is at disadvantage on Persuasion checks against creatures of the same type or subtype as one or more of your worn trophies.
Suggested Characteristics
Regularly regarded as unkept and feral among civilized folk, trophy hunters typically find few joys in the commodities of life in the cities. The hunt, and the hunt alone, is their most sought after way of living life.
