Somnian Apprentice Image

At some point in your life, you were approached by a group of researchers claiming to be from the Somnia Familia. They are a group of researchers and inventors dedicated to exploring the mysteries of magic of all forms. The requirements to join are as follows: PICK ONE

- Make a discovery and document it in a reproducible way

- Create/Find an artifact that innovates or improves on a concept already existing

- Demonstrate mastery over a spell by altering in to a new use consistently

Skill Proficiencies: Being scouted by this group is proof of your above average abilities at birth.

Choose One: Insight or Arcana

Tool Proficiencies: Your background proves your proficiencies in the field of Alchemy, if only basic. Gain Proficiency in Alchemist's Supplies
Languages: You were given an enchanted tablet that taught you Primordial, the most common language spoken by the Familia (Because they were founded by an edgy teen apparently).
Equipment: Upon being scouted you were given Draco's Locket, which works as follows: 

Using the locket, you may cast Dancing Lights cantrip and choose the 3 colors of the lights, but it will always flash your identifying colors before changing to the new combination. If used in a forest, you may attempt to call for the family house. Rolling a 1 on a d100 will band you from the house for 1 week, and deactivate the locket for 3 days. Do this 3 times, and you will be locked from the house until you are able to find someone from the Familia and appeal. Roll a 100, and you will ear yourself a permanent companion from the house that can hold up to 4 level 4 or lower spells, with 7 level 5 spell slots that recharge at 3/day. Otherwise, your DM will determine a 3 digit number range that you must roll between to summon the house. On a successful summon of the House, you may request 2 pieces information or 1 piece of magical equipment with 2d4+1 uses.

 
Feature: Proficiency in Magic

You gain a certain understanding of one school of magic. When using any spell in this school 2 levels below your highest spell slot, you may attempt to come up with a new application of the spell. Roll the spell like usual, and on a proper success (determined by the DM), you gain +2 to any roll to try that same combination again in the future (only gained on the 1st attempt).
