Combat has been your life for as long as you care to remember. Taken in as a child and hidden in the Razors Crest keep, high in the Star Mounts you went through extensive training, ruthless mental and physical conditioning, and mysterious arcane learning. You studied the use of weapons and armor, and learned survival techniques, including tracking prey and how to stay alive in the wilds with nothing but your own strength of will.
All of this in preparation for becoming a monster slayer for hire and effectively fulfill their objective; protecting humans from the monsters inhabiting our world. They're a relatively secret organisation and spoken of in hushed whispers which has created a sense of mistrust amongst the general populace causing them to be treated as outcasts. Venators are rarely a welcome guest and contacts with members of this profession are almost always limited to business.

You are able to identify mercenary companies by their emblems, and you know a little about any such company, including the names and reputations of its commanders and leaders, and who has hired them recently. You can find the taverns and feast halls where mercenaries abide in any area, as long as you speak the language. When acquiring mercenary work in relation to any creature type of; aberration, beast, fiend, giant, monstrosity or undead you have advantage on any ability checks to negotiate price.
You can find mercenary work between adventures sufficient to maintain a comfortable lifestyle (see “Practicing a Profession” under “Downtime Activities” in chapter 8 of the Player’s Handbook).
