You are a blacksmith from a local village or aspiring city who decided to pick up and test their own gear since the adventurers always die, or maybe you just got sick of only crafting nails and bolts. Perhaps you're even a famous smith from the big city who was hired by your party to come with them on their adventure to maintain their equipment. Whatever your reason, hopefully your knowledge of how to create a weapon translates into knowledge on how to use it.
- Skill Proficiencies: Choose two from the following - Sleight of Hand, History, Intimidation, and Athletics
- Tool Proficiencies: Smith's Tools
- Equipment: A Tinderbox, a hammer, 10 nails, a set of work clothes with a leather apron, a simple weapon you made, and a pouch containing 15 gp.
Your work with searing heat and molten metal has steeled your heart. You have advantage on saving throws against being frightened and Constitution saving throws you make to maintain concentration as a result of taking damage from non-magical fire, as well as advantage on Intelligence (History) checks you make relating to weapons and armor.
Moreover, you can inspect a piece of equipment and (over the course of 1 minute) learn vague knowledge about it, such as its approximate price. Alternatively, you can spend more time to learn additional knowledge, such as the age of the item, and a more accurate price.
Suggested Characteristics
Most are big and tough on the outside, but what about the inside? Sure, lots are cold and tough as steel inside and out, but who says a blacksmith can't be into fine arts, or maybe even the biggest fan of that really popular bardic troupe - you know the one. Maybe you only became a blacksmith to take up the family mantle and make the old man proud, and you've been hoping for any excuse to leave it all behind and go on an epic adventure.
