
Unfortunate circumstances lead to you being stranded on a small island for an extended period of time. Maybe you chose this exile to escape persecution, you were thrown overbord in a mutiny or your ship simply sank after colliding with a coral reef.
You have learned to survive on your own and brave the harsh winds and weather. Consequently, your social skillshave deteriorated to some degree and interaction with other people feels a bit foreign to you.

For your skills you take Survival and one of the following: Perception, Athletics, Nature, Animal Handling

- Equipment: One of the following weapons: A belaying pin (club), a harpoon (spear), an oar (quarterstaff).
One sentimental item that you kept throughout your time on the island. Examples: An empty hip flask of rum bottle, a silver amulet with the picture of a loved one, a diary or book kept in a waterproof pouch of linen.
Simple clothes, salt encrusted and damaged from use.
45 GP, 25 SP and 324 CP you looted from a chest that washed up on your island.
50 feet of rope (Hemp)
A waterskin and 10 rations worth of dried fish.
Years of being stranded on an island have attuned your senses to the characteristics of the wind and waves. You can sense sounds, vibrations, smells and temperature differences through air and water over twice the normal distance.
Additionally, you have advantage on all perception checks relating to these sensations.
Suggested Characteristics
Your appearance reflects your extended exposure to the elements. Your body is lean and athletic. Your skin is tanned or even sunburned. Your hair (and beard) has grown long and unkempt. You have a scent of seawater about you that won't quite go away, even after a long bath.
Contacts
You have had no contact with the rest of the world for at least one year. Encounters with friends, family and past acquaintances should reflect that.
You may chose to have been part of a trading company, a (pirate) crew or a group of fishermen.
You have lived alongside creatures of the sea long enough to know their behavior, their hiding places and how to catch them.
You have advantage on all animal handling checks with fish, crustacians and other sea creatures. You also know how to interpret their behavior and how to catch them without using tools. You gain double the amounf of food from fishing and gathering in water.
