You spent your formative years in the woods, learning to be self-sufficient and rarely travelling into town or interacting with many people. Being so isolated meant lots of time to yourself to pour over books and scrolls, and you studied often, learning about the world from afar. Your upbringing has meant a retention of survival-focused knowledge - what's safe to eat, where to find certain animals and plants, hunting techniques, basic healing, and making camp.
- Skill Proficiencies: Survival and Nature
All the free time that your lifestyle has afforded you meant more than just reading - it meant time to dedicate yourself to another skill. You have dedicated yourself to one of these options: working out (Athletics), spending time bonding with the fauna (Animal Handling), or studying healing (Medicine).
- Tool Proficiencies: Your strong connection to nature has meant the development of a proficiency in either wood (carpentry or carving) or beneficial plants. This means working with a set of Carpenter's Tools, Woodcarver's Tools, or a Herbalism Kit.
- Equipment: Choose A or B: (A) Quarterstaff, Small Knife, Book (history), Healer's Kit, Hunting Trap, Travellers Clothes; or (B) 50 GP
Plus a set of tools corresponding to proficiency.
The wilderness is your home and you are comfortable dwelling in it. You can find a place to hide, rest, or recuperate when out in the wild. This place of rest is secure enough to conceal you from most natural threats. In addition, you can find food and fresh water for yourself and up to five other people each day, provided that the land offers berries, small game, water, and so forth.
