The world is full of those who live outside the law, hiding in shadows, and preying on the weak. Some hunt for justice, others for coin—but all must answer to someone, or something. You have walked this line, learning the art of tracking, negotiation, and confrontation. Perhaps you were an enforcer for a mercantile guild, a lone hunter of criminals and monsters, or a mercenary following whispered contracts across the land. Whatever led you here, you are defined by your skill in finding what others cannot—and bringing it down.

The life of a bounty hunter is not glamorous. You have faced desperate fugitives, monstrous beasts, and corrupt authorities. You know the worth of information, the cost of failure, and the thrill of the chase. Wherever danger hides, you can find it. Wherever someone owes a debt they refuse to pay, you will collect it—or die trying.

Now, armed with your tools, wits, and resolve, you walk a path few dare tread: tracking the hunted, facing the unknown, and shaping your own justice in a world that offers little mercy.

Feature: Contracted Pursuit

Starting at 1st level, you have an uncanny ability to track targets, whether they are fugitives, beasts, or monsters. When you spend at least 1 hour tracking someone or something in the wild or urban areas, you gain the following benefits:

  • You can determine direction, recent locations, and one distinguishing feature (such as the prey’s scent, footprints, or trace evidence).

  • If the target has recently interacted with others, you can make a DC 15 Insight or Investigation check to determine who they contacted last.

  • In cities or settlements, you can gain rumors about your target in half the usual time (typically 1 day reduced to 12 hours).

This feature scales with level: at level 6, you can maintain a mental map of the last 3 locations of your target; at level 14, you can track a target across any terrain with a successful DC 20 Survival check.
