Combat Overhaul I grants a handful of special features to enhance combat versatility while maintaining predictable rules during play. These features include:

  • Disarm: Use this action while you have an empty hand. Make a Dexterity (Sleight of Hand) check contested by the target's Strength (Athletics) or Dexterity (Sleight of Hand) check (the target chooses the ability to use). You succeed automatically if the target is incapacitated. If you succeed, you remove one weapon from the target's hand, throwing it to the ground at their feet. If you have two empty hands, you may perform this action as a reaction when another creature's melee weapon attack hits you, but before they roll for damage. Disarming in this way causes the attack to miss.
  • Pounce: You can perform a special attack when you take the Attack action on your turn against a target that is on ground at least 10 feet lower than yourself, within jumping range to land on. When you do, perform an unarmed or melee weapon attack. Until the start of your next turn, you have a -5 penalty to AC. If the attack hits, the target must succeed on a Strength (Athletics) or Dexterity (Acrobatics) check with a DC equivalent to the height of your fall to avoid being knocked prone and negating the impact of your fall. Alternatively, you can deal extra damage equivalent to 1d6 + the fall damage you received. The extra damage matches the damage type of your attack.
  • Wall Splat: When you use any means to displace a target into space already occupied by a solid structure, you can choose to cause a Wall Splat. A Wall Splat inflicts 1d4 bludgeoning damage. The damage from a Wall Splat cannot be used to incur another Wall Splat.
