You’ve developed the skills necessary to find a weakness in your opponent's movement, allowing you to find an opportune moment to grapple them with your knowledge and speed over your strength.
- You can substitute Strength (Athletics) with Dexterity (Athletics) or Dexterity (Acrobatics) when trying to grapple an opponent.
- While you have a creature grappled you must maintain the grapple with Strength (Athletics) or with disadvantage if using the Strength/Dexterity (Acrobatics) ability.
- You may remove the disadvantage enforced by using (Acrobatics) by spending your reaction to readjust yourself while they try to break the grapple.
- The reason: It may be easy to get your arms around an enemy for a moment, but it really comes down to your athletic ability to keep them in place.
I see where you're going with this, but the initiation of the grapple IS holding them. Just having your arms around them will do nothing. The grappled condition stops their movement and having a dexterous person grab you does not stop you. I also think this is giving too much to Dexterity from the Strength territory.
Yeah, grappling is one of the only things that strength actually as over Dex and I strength based characters are already all too rare.
