The DM decides when and under what circumstances to grant or end the Woodsong feat.
You have been touched by the spirits of the wild, and this connection to nature is anything but subtle. You are tethered to the wild and untamed aspects of nature, feeling a constant pull to return to it.
You gain the following benefits:
- You gain proficiency in the Nature skill.
- You can speak with any animal or plant that you can see, and they can speak to you. If they do, you hear and understand it as Druidic, either verbally or telepathically.
- You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed or frightened by plantlife, beasts, or magical effects that resemble plantlife or beasts.
You are sometimes aware of the spirits of the wild watching over you, their presence often manifesting as whispers, fleeting visions, or subtle shifts in the natural environment. These manifestations can suggest a spirit's attempt to communicate or manifest its presence, such as:
-
Unusual movements of plants/animals: A sudden rustling of leaves without wind, a flock of birds changing course abruptly, or a normally skittish animal approaching you or an ally.
-
Unexplained changes in weather patterns: A sudden gust of wind, a localized drop in temperature, or brief shimmer of light.
-
Unusual sensory experiences: A fleeting scent of wildflowers in an otherwise barren landscape, a distant melody carried on the breeze, or a momentary feeling of warmth in an otherwise chilly environment could suggest a spirit's attempt to communicate or manifest its presence.
These spirits may offer advice, warnings, or judgments, their voices sometimes a comforting guide and other times a distracting chorus. While their insights can be valuable, discerning their true intentions and navigating their influence requires wisdom and discernment. You can interact with these spirits, seek their guidance, interpret their omens, or even form alliances with them.
You are sometimes surrounded by the sounds of nature, even in the most civilized of places. This can be very distracting, like hearing the chirping of birds in a busy city street or the sound of wind rustling through the leaves in a quiet library. This can make it difficult to concentrate on tasks or conversations.
You are drawn to remote places in nature, such as forests, swamps, and mountains. You feel a sense of peace and belonging in these places, even though they are more dangerous than other areas. You sometimes find yourself compelled to travel to these places, even when you know that it is dangerous. You do not need prior knowledge to know how to locate or access these areas.
You may have to make Wisdom saving throws (DC 10 + Wisdom modifier) to resist this travel.
If you fail the saving throw, you feel a strong compulsion to make excuses to leave the party or go off on your own to travel to the remote natural areas that draw you. You may even become reckless and ignore obvious dangers in the desire to return.
If you succeed on the saving throw, you can resist the compulsion to leave the party or go off on your own to travel to the remote natural areas that draw you. However, you may still feel a strong pull towards these places, and you may have to make additional saving throws if you are exposed to the spirits of nature or other reminders of these places.
