Vow Of Poverty Image
Prerequisite: Requires Good or Neutral Alignment

Pre-Requisite: Good or Neutral alignment

Benefits:

  1. The PC may add half their proficiency bonus (rounded up)  to all attacks (does stack with class features), saves (does stack with class features), armor class, and ability checks (to a max of +2).
  2. The PC may do 1d4 radiant damage on all attacks.
  3. The PC does not need to Eat or Drink
  4. The PC heals two levels of exhaustion a day
  5. The PC has Advantage on Death Saving throws.
  6. The PC can ignore the extremes of temperatures up to 140 to -60 degree's., altitudes both high and low (biromantic pressure), and negatives provided by non-magical weather (i.e. disadvantage or movement loss).
  7. The PC may ignore material components for spellcasting (up to DM's discretion).
  8. The PC gains a carrying capacity of a large creature (this feature does not stack).
  9. All Attacks by the PC are considered Magical.

The character makes a sacred vow with a God, Powerful Entity, Resonating with a Land/Element, or Divine/Arcane contract to abstain from material rich's and live a life of poverty, piety, and goodness.

To fulfill your vow, you must:

  1. Not own or use any material possessions that are magical or materially expensive.
  2. You may not deviate beyond a neutral alignment.
  3. You must not purposely circumvent this vow by having others hold onto goods for you that are used for your benefit. This includes single use items like potions, scrolls, or salves. You may hold onto other items for another character but never for yourself.
  4. A character must obtain from  charity or deed (that is willing and not coerce) any item they wield that is non-magical and more expensive than the PC could afford with their maximum moneys allowed (DM discretion). They may not take items off the dead as that would be stealing.
  5. A character may not own or have held for them more money than is considered observing a poverty lifestyle (DM discretion).

Breaking any of these will consider the vow broken and the feat lost until the storyteller deems the player character has redeemed themselves in regards to their vow.

Exceptions to this rule are:

  • If another character applies a material magical item to the character while they are unconscious or dead.
  • If another character uses an item that helps the PC but is not consumed.
  • If the item is not magical but materially expensive (e.g. Full Plate Armor) and is gifted to the PC, the PC may use that item but only if the circumstances are considered truly benevolent and the deed that obtained it was for good (Storyteller Discretion).
  • A character may have money but never more than is considered poor.

If you break your vow, you immediately and irrevocably lose the benefit of this feat until the DM decides a PC has atoned for the discretion. The PC may not take another feat to replace it.
