EVERY DAY I invent my own games like D&D I am just wondering if anyone else does this and if you don't or never have why not? I find it fun. One of my favourite games i made up only uses dice 6. it's simple and fast. also i have made games more advanced then D&D.
It comes up every few months. Sometimes because D&D chooses the worst names for its mechanics, or other times because the mechanics don't represent enough of what they're actually doing.
The mechanics I'm most proud of actually impact the fighter and barbarian classes. Fighters get bonuses to hit, because they just aim better. Barbarians meanwhile get to crit with modifiers... such as any roll of 25 or higher is a crit. Sure, at level 1 that's still a 20, but with a +6PB, +3 weapon, and +5str, that's a roll of 7 giving you a crit. I dunno, needs more work, but the idea is solid enough.
Don’t you mean alternative versions of D&D? One that I’ve made is “Mini D&D”- a version of D&D where there is no DM, and everyone controls a monster of the same CR, and then they fight. Not too balanced, but fun and simple.

All hail the great and mighty platypus.
Resisting is simply standing in front of the tide and pushing at it. Even if you endure at first, you will eventually break down. Adapting, by contrast, is turning into a fish.

Rangers are not underpowered. They’re just exploration-oriented.
