My Battle Smith just reached 7th level, and I'm swapping out the infusion for Haunted Pipes for something else, but I'm unsure what to take. Our party is in the middle of CoS and is made up of a Phantom Rogue, College of Creation Bard, Rune Knight Fighter, a Forge Cleric, and me.
Here's my current list:
Repeating Shot: on a heavy crossbow (mine)
Enhanced Defense: on scale mail (mine)
Bag of Holding: not in use
Homunculus: not in use
Spell-Refueling Ring: used by the Bard
???????
Tempted to go for a fun role-playing choice like Tankard of Plenty because my character is also a brewer and there's no beer in Barovia, but my min/max brain thinks I should take something practical. Thoughts?
Whatever it is will not be in play on most days as the three in use now are unlikely to change.
Repulsion Shield if you use a shield gives you an additional +1 AC and the ability to push away opponents in melee. Pretty useful if you aren’t mostly ranged. If your fighter or rogue doesn’t have a magical weapon, you could take Radiant Weapon for one of them if they are usually melee. +1 weapon plus occasional blinding. If they don’t have dark vision it also gives off light.
Cloak of Elvenkind is also fantastic for stealth. Your rogue will probably want it, but it might be best to give it to your least stealthy member because it can make up for even disadvantage from armor to some degree.
Alchemist Jug has always been a favourite for making oil bombs (molotov cocktail style) and as an emergency ration (honey and mayo are high in calories and nutritional dense). Or bottle the beer/wine/ fresh water and sell it. Speaking of beer, this would fit your character a bit.
Returning weapon is nice to pick too. +1 rolls and it returns? your rogue would love this. I mean there are likely to get a +1or better weapon, but one that returns is legendary (well at least very rare like the Dwarven Thrower)
You could do the Spellwrought Tattoo and replay the HS. do a find familiar on you (now you have your HS back) and then use it as an extra spell slot for your own first-level spells.
Personally I'd swap out the the the weapon and armor one for the radiant weapon and repulsion shield because why not? You just get some nice extra options for fun.
You should probably get options that are situational that might come in handy if you have time to rest and swap out infusions. Cloak of the manta is ridiculously good underwater, resistant armor can be good if you know you are going into a fight vs a specific kind of damage.
I have found Lantern of Revealing to be incredibly useful. When attacked by something invisible it reveals the creature to EVERYONE, not just you, making it very powerful. Also, there are lots of times when you do not know if someone is invisible around, easy to light it up and check without costing you much.
If you have a Wizard that likes concentration spells, the Mind Sharpener is a wonderful little boost.

Mind Sharpener is fantastic for yourself or whoever in the party is applying buffs or debuffs.
