I am trying to make some homebrew infusions (mainly for adding pictures to existing infusions). I cannot find how to do this in D&D Beyond. Anyone know if it is possible?
I mean, you could add a class feature for an extra infusion and make the new ones you want, or you can basically homebrew the subclass you are using, and add a feature at the level for infusion homebrew infusions, having one of the options be none. It is kinda complex, but there is ways around it, just it is annoying to do.
I'd really like a bit more info on how to do that? I've already made a subclass entirely, and i'm not sure how to add them and make them work alongside the preexisting. I'm hoping it doesn't involve me just adding them and they not count as "items".
It may be easier to just homebrew the infusion as an item instead and just "add it to your inventory"
There are two main problems with Homebrew infusions; first is that there is currently no way to add additional options to a class feature (this applies to Warlock Eldritch Invocations, Fighter Fighting Styles and so-on), so there's no way to add more infusions to the same list. Second is that there is no way to homebrew proper infusions at all, so there is no way to add a homebrew infusion such that it can be added to an item on the character sheet using the infusions UI, so even if you just automatically granted the infusion (no need to pick it from the list) it still wouldn't work like other infusions do. I've no idea if this is something that the devs could expose somehow or not; my suspicion is that parts of it will be hard-coded so won't be flexible enough for most homebrewer's needs anyway.
If your goal is to make a sub-class compatible with D&D Beyond's homebrew system, then your only option is to make it a sub-class feature, and just describe how it works such that the player can customise the item themselves. For example, you might borrow language from infusions such as "During a short rest you may choose one non-magical weapon and grant it the ability to [blah blah blah]". The player will then need to take a note of which item the feature applies to, and apply any hit/damage bonus themselves, and/or remember to apply whatever special effect the feature grants. Not ideal, but it's the only way for now.

Former D&D Beyond Customer of six years: With the axing of piecemeal purchasing, lack of meaningful development, and toxic moderation the site isn't worth paying for anymore. I remain a free user only until my groups are done migrating from DDB, and if necessary D&D, after which I'm done. There are better systems owned by better companies out there.
I have unsubscribed from all topics and will not reply to messages. My homebrew is now 100% unsupported.
4 years is insane. But I'm still holding out for the pipe dream that is mana points from the DMG :(. Also the ability to create non-magical/non-woundrous equipable items. Even if its local only like custom items.

It is not currently possible to homebrew Artificer infusions on D&D Beyond.
They are in a similar position to Fighting Styles and Eldritch Invocations - they are part of class features of a core class.
The good news though is that this is planned for the future!

Any news on this? Could not find it on the roadmap...
More than 2 years later and it's still not possible... This is disappointing to say the least

I don't know if this would work, but could you make the infusion a common magic item and add it through the replicate magic item infusion?

I tried that, did not work. Seems like an easy fix for dndbeyond coders, but... well, we know that's not going to happen anytime soon.
I'm from that future, could you point me to it now?
I don't think it's a feature yet.

Well what did they mean by future 2050?!
No idea, but future doesn't mean today.

There's a guy who made a script to use spell points with DNDBeyond, look it up, it's not that hard to apply.
