So my group finally found additional members and I finally know what to build around. It seems to be a mostly melee-centeric consisting of:
Dragonborn [???] Paladin; Bugbear Rune Knight Fighter; Dragonmarked (Making) Human Armorer Artificer; Gnome Clockwork Soul Sorcerer; and my Custom Lineage Kobold [???] Artificer.
Using TCoE I built my own bloody Kobold, gaining +2 Int and taking the Keen feat as it tied into his backstory quite nicely.
My "Thunder Lizard" Armorer build is out, as is the "Techno-Knight" Battlesmith.
The other two builds I've been tinkering with are the ranged "Cyber-beastmaster" Battlesmith and an Artillerist build that I've yet to find a clever name for.
Between 2 Artificers and a Paladin I think we've got healing covered, but I don't know enough about what the other subclasses are capable of to decide which build would benefit us the most.
Ideally I want to play support when needed but again, I'm unfamiliar with the subclasses [and Artificer in general] but still blast a fool when needed.
I think I play the "Cyber-beastmaster" Build you're describing. I would call it the "Sniper with a pet" - Build and it is quite versatile. Between Heavy Crossbow with the repeating Shot Infusion and Feats for ranged Attacks (I took Sharpshooter VERY early but you can do that later, too) you do a bunch of damage and the Iron Defender is a cool Damage Sponge. The cool thing with this build is you got all those Spellslots for shenanigans and versatility. The occasional cure Wounds, Detect Magic and all that stuff.
As you don't have a healer per se, an artillerist using a protector cannon while casting ranged spells and the occasional cure wounds might fill out the party nicely. I'm currently playing a rock gnome artillerist and the eldritch cannons have been substantially benifital to the entire party.
Want to clear a room of low hp monsters? Use a flamethrower cannon. Dealing with monsters at extreme range? Use a force ballista. Mobs of enemies surrounding your party? Protector cannon all the way.

Appreciate it, cheers.

Hope this helps?
Thank you but our Sorcerer changed to Star Druid and now I'll be going Battle Smith to play party scout. =3
