I have recently started drawing world maps but I am looking for recommendations on what paper stock works best for world maps versus dungeon maps: isometric, hexagonal or square?
My preference is square for battlemaps, and hexagonal for everything else. Most buildings will be built with right angles, so it just makes life easier. Most travel outside of the city is going to be less orderly.
I also like to use hexagons at scales that represent tiers of movement on foot. For example:

Regional map: 1 Hex = 1 Hour of travel
Country map: 1 Hex = 1 Day of travel
World map: 1 Hex = 1 Week of travel
