I recently made a character (an Air Genasi Rogue) and I have a constitution bonus of 2 but I somehow have 14 hp. I am new to the game. Does anyone know how this is possible.
Yes. You set the Hit Point type from fixed to manual before selecting your class. When that happens, it automatically puts the default to 12 since that’s the highest anybody gets. Barbarians get 1d12.
So you just have to set your rolled HP to 8 and you will get the 10 HP you are supposed to have for a 1st level Rogue.
every time you make a character at level 1 (and every time you get your 1st level in a new class, like when multi-classing) you get maximum hit points for that class. So for a level 1 Rogue with a Con bonus of +2 your character should have 10 hit points, you would have 14 if you were a Barbarian you would have 14.
Everytime you believe you have more Hp than the rest of mortals, just take a look at how many HP a Human wizard starts.... and if you still think you have too much HP, just share me some to my poor wizzy... :(
I am also seeing this bug. I'm getting for any and all characters I create and when I level I'm losing HP and its not keeping the previous total
That's because you set the HP style to Manual before selecting a class, and the system defaults to 12 HP (from the max possible hit die, d12 for Barbarians) for lack of better information. Then when you leveled up it recalculated using the actual hit die of your starting class.

you dont roll at first level... i just made a fighter. its supposed to be 10 + con mod (2), instead i have 14
It's not very intuitive that you should select your starting class on the 3rd tab before selecting manual Hit Point Type on the 1st tab.
